I blame myself for the problems with A Best, who serviced my AC. During work on another issue, my landlord mentioned that my house's crawlspace was extraordinarily cool and asked me to check the house AC vents to see if the air was flowing okay. Turns out several were not, and my landlord said I could proceed to have it fixed. I called A Best because they had serviced the unit before. Two workers came to my house. One went into the crawlspace and says he saw no major issues with the ductwork under the house. They opened the hood to the unit and discovered it was very dirty and congested with dirt, dog hair and other outside particles. They cleaned the unit and either fixed or replaced two parts called run capacitors. The bill says they were repaired at a cost of $301.50. There also was a $335 charge. A Best was at my house for about an hour. And the vents that didn't flow well are still not flowing well. My landlord hit the roof when he saw the receipt. He priced the parts at other places at less than $100. When I called A Best they told me that the receipt says repaired but that they actually were replaced. When I asked about the high cost of the parts, I was told that also included labor for each part. I then asked why there was a separate $335 labor charge, which brought the entire bill for work to $938. She said she would look into it and call me back. That was on Sept. 16. Today is Oct. 5. I blame myself for not getting estimates beforehand. I naively wanted to show A Best some loyalty. Lesson learned. An expensive lesson.
Anytime the a/c goes out, things can get moody. These guys came, determined, repaired and replaced all in a 24 hour period. All while being upfront and informative. I did not pay the bill, however, I witnessed the good business/good faith and now can reap the benefits of a cooled off day.. Thank you for your hard work.
The tech came out stating we needed a new contactor even though we had power going to the unit but the fan was not running. I stated should you not check the power coming from the fan to the power supply to ensure the fan has just not went out since the unit is powering on the tech said in his educational experience its a bad contactor and it will be around 300.00 plus parts and diagnostic fee. I said ok since I am recovering from surgery on my back even though he never checked the fan power and I truly new better . He comes out next day puts in the new contactor then tells me well it looks like there is no power coming from your fan because it is not coming on at this point after I installed the new contactor. I said did I not tell you to check that before just guessing he said I did what I thought the issue was . I am like ok how much is it for a new fan to be installed He told me around 750.00 for a new fan to be installed but I really think you are going to need a new unit at this point. I took a deep breath and said ok so at this point how much do I owe you He said 300.00 for the new contactor that I installed. I knew the fan was not a big deal to install its a hole 5 wires my 15 year old son can do that so I paid him the 300.00 plus 800.00 for the diagnostic fee a total of 380.00 and he left. Here were I am really upset after he leaves I go to put the door on because it was supposed to rain that evening and the new contactor that he installed keeps popping off every time I try to put the door on the unit is power off. Come to find out he installed a bad contactor and there is no way he didn't know because if you barely moves the low voltage wire the contactor would power off turning the unit off. I am very upset because he did that on purpose I truly believe and just took my $380.00 and left. I got a new contactor that cost me another $45.00 and fan cost $175.00 and installed then myself through alot of pain later in my back the unit is running just fine. I have everything on camera and voice recorded the entire conversation between us . I could not make this up if I tried. Going to small claims court on this one for sure. I would be very careful if you choose to use this company they will take your money not fix the unit then tell you that you need a new unit all together like they did me.
We received a call from A-Best Air saying we were due a service on our AC unit. We scheduled the service and also expressed concern about one of the units. The tech came out, he was polite. He was here 20 minutes. We weren’t told what he did but we were charged for a year’s service plan that we didn’t agree to. I called the office to discuss the payment and was told it was a year fee we pay for service. We have used A-Best for an issue with our units and had a great experience. We’ve never used them for service only and this experience felt like we were forced under false pretenses because the service plan was never explained to us. The communication could have been handled better. In the future, we will use a different company.
I spoke with Jarred about getting a new Diakin Heating and Air system installed. I had several questions about 2 different units I was considering. He was very patient, answered my questions, and was very informative. He also came out to the house to make sure that everything was as it should be for the unit we had decided on which was a 14 Seer. Since he installs a lot of Diakin, he was able to give me a better price than my other quotes. John and Lewis came out to do the installation, were very thorough, and did a wonderful job. They also changed out my 14" return ducting in the attic to 16" ducting because Jarred wanted to make sure the new unit would work at its best. John even came back the next day to adjust the flame on the gas furnace because he wasn't satisfied with the way it was and didn't have his gauge with him the day before. We were very impressed with Jarred, John, and Lewis. We would highly recommend A Best Air and Heat to anyone needing a new unit. They are great!
