The wait time was very fast, we got our seats quickly however as a party of 8, they did not offer that big of seats or tables so we managed. The service was very fast with food coming out within 10 minutes. We got the onion fritters with chutney, which was very good however the quantity was little. There is no spice levels however which is kind of disappointing but, manageable they said. There was not a lot of salt in the food and provided salt and pepper and in the butter chicken, there could have been less tomato in the gravy and the chicken could have been less chewy. The naan was good but, it could have been softer and less crunchy.

Badmaash is a great restaurant in downtown LA. As an Indian, much is expected from an Indian restaurant. After eating here, I was satisfied. There were 8 of us so we ordered a good amount of food. Before we begin I would like to point out something very crucial yet minor. The water. When the server asked if we wanted water, I thought it would be regular tap water like other restaurants. I was proven wrong. This was pure, filtered tap water. Moving onto the food, for the first appetizer, we ordered the onion fritters. These were good, and were exactly what you’d expect. These were got their fries. These were pretty good. They came with this delicious dip too so that made it much better. Then, for the first main dish, we got the saag paneer. It was overall satisfactory. There could have been a bit more salt in it, and for me it could have been a tad bit spicier, but it did its job. Next was the dal makhni. This one was interesting. I couldn’t really taste the makhni (butter/cream) part of the dish. I must say that this wasn’t one of their best dishes. The last curry we ordered was their butter chicken. It came and looked very well prepared. It was a great dish and I recommend it. Only thing was that the chicken was a bit chewy and could have been more soft and tender. The gravy was good and I had no complaints about it. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the chance to try their dessert options, but the food itself was enough to tell me that this was a pretty nice place for lunch or dinner. Also, on top of all the delicious food, they gave us 13 complementary pieces of dubble bubble gum. Overall a nice way to end the day and great service!

You will do fine if you are not a desi / native. You won’t if you frequent Indian restaurants and love Indian food and know what true service is. I’ve never gone to a restaurant that says we only cook mild but that they can give you hot sauce on the side and charge for it. Charging us $4 for a tiny cup of chilli sauce was insane. The Raita in Indian restaurants/ cuisine is a staple. Charging us $5 for it when we asked for some more was ludicrous!! And charging us for a small bowl of onions and chilies which is typically a side / accompaniment - 🤯 They NEVER told us that they would charge us for it. Or we would not have ordered. Needless to say we will not be going back again!! I am surprised that they are still around. Perhaps because of the location 🤔

Someone recommended this restaurant after seeing it on Instagram. I was skeptical from the start because many social media videos are basically promotions. But let me share my direct and honest experience. Last week, on a weekday afternoon, my family and I were nearby and hungry, so we decided to give it a try. The place immediately felt clumsy, with odd, mismatched décor & not at all what you’d expect from a “fancy” restaurant. We were greeted with the coldest smile and shown to a table. The server looked disheveled, uninterested, and acted like he hadn’t showered in ages. From the beginning, he seemed totally disengaged. When he brought water glasses, he banged them on the table, and when he served plates, he literally threw them down in a way you wouldn’t even treat someone in jail. That set the tone. We ordered samosas first, but they were terrible: just bland potato and peas stuffed inside, neither fried nor baked properly. Easily one of the worst samosas I’ve had. The sev puri was just okay. Then came the entrées Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala. Both dishes were drowning in cream yet completely lacking in flavor. To make things worse, the chicken wasn’t properly cooked, and each dish tasted like it had been doused with 10–20 lemons. It was so sour it was inedible. Same was the case with Saag paneer ! The spinach wasn’t cooked properly and it didn’t have any taste !! We couldn’t eat the food and felt sad that we had to let it go to waste. When I mentioned this to the waiter, instead of apologizing or offering to fix it, he snapped back, “So? What do you want me to do?” I simply asked him to tell the chef, but he just muttered “OK” and walked away with no apology, no solution, no care. Paying $25 for one Butter Chicken entrée at a place like this is outrageous for such poor quality and service. Honestly, it’s not worth the price—or even worth eating if you were starving. If you’re curious and still want to try it, read this review first and decide for yourself. I’m shocked that places like this take customers for granted. I genuinely feel bad for anyone who spends good money here expecting a decent meal. Hands down, this was the worst Indian restaurant experience I’ve had in Los Angeles. Good luck if you want to try!

Surprisingly good food Wonderful traditional options and power options Distinct flavors. Would recommend if you want to grab a quick wholesome meal.
