Came during the opening month. Food was great, with my star favorites being the fried fish and chicken pot pie. I wish the bone marrow wasn’t included in the cost of the dish as I don’t personally like how it’s fatty and flavorless. The hot dog appetizer was ok, would skip. Portions were a bit small overall so I hope they increase it. The ambiance was amazing— the upscale bar pub style that’s also incredibly cozy.
Dingle’s Public House is exactly the kind of place I want to go back to again and again. British pub food done with real care and precision. The dishes are thoughtful and expertly prepared. Everything I had was truly craveable. Service was excellent: warm, attentive, and effortless. The martini was perfectly balanced and the wine list is strong and well considered. Comforting, elevated, and clearly run by people who care deeply about what they’re putting on the table. A gem.
Very excited to see this open in SF. In addition to classics like fish and chips and scotch egg, they’re serving the first traditional British Sunday roast I’ve seen in the Bay Area. I went a couple times during their preview weeks and found the roast and the rest of the menu to be better than any pub food I tried in London. The space is cool too. Deep British racing green walls, mahogany leather seating, a flickering fireplace, shelves of books, and artwork and duck motifs dotted throughout. It’s homey and personal. Drinks are what you’d expect from a pub, plus a larger wine list. Guinness is on tap, Guinness 0.0 is available, and there are a few craft cocktails.
Stack ranked favorite menu items I tried (note: #s 2-5 were really difficult to rank as they were all very tasty)… #1 The sticky toffee pudding with ice cream, for sure; it was insane #2 Surprisingly the sausage roll; pastry was top tier flaky and sausage super juicy. Interesting brown sauce (almost had a apple butter - bbq hybrid flavor) #3 The scotch egg #4 The rarebit toast #5 The meat pie #6 The leek pasta bake Pasta bake was my least favorite but honestly still pretty good.
I feel so lucky to have gotten the chance to go to Dingles friends and family soft opening. Dingles serves up such a cozy British pub vibe with even better food and drinks. Anissa makes some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had, and Chef George’s food is unmatched. This is definitely an addition to the SF food scene that was needed! I can’t express how warm and comforting this restaurant is. Not to mention, chef’s kiss to the Sunday roast and Welsh rarebit I never knew I was missing out on.
