Absolutely amazing service! Had a lovely lady help me find my gorgeous wedding band. Very friendly and welcoming
My boyfriend and I recently visited the Kay Jewelers at the 5th Avenue Mall in Anchorage to purchase an engagement ring, and the experience was very disappointing. When I asked the sales associate for a moment to browse on my own, she rolled her eyes in response. Later, when I requested to view a specific ring, she suggested that I order it online instead of assisting me in-store, which made me feel as though she was not interested in completing a direct sale. When my boyfriend mentioned that he would be paying with cash, the associate appeared skeptical, squinted, and tried to steer us toward financing, which made us feel judged for our chosen payment method. During checkout, the associate provided no explanation of the diamond’s size, cut, clarity, or quality, and selected the ring for me without any discussion. The entire interaction felt rushed, impersonal, and diminished what should have been a special moment.
Went in to buy a jewelers cloth to polish my ring and saw a Tissot watch. The price was significantly reduced so I walked out with my first Christmas present for my wife. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable, answering all of my questions about the watch. This Kay Jewelers has a great selection and is my go to for store for gift buying.
I visited this Kay jewelers on 10/9/25. I have been to a Kay's in Scottsdale, eureka, Santa Barbara, LA, San Francisco and yet, this specific location, was the one with the worst welcome and customer service I've been served with. As one expects a greeting when you walk in, I didn't. It wasn't until a white couple came in and they got a, "hello, welcome to Kay's jewelers. Let us know if you need any help." I was told, "hello." That's it. Nothing more until AFTER the couple arrived. I should have walked away from there that instant. I didn't. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I walk up to the men's area and as I'm looking at the bands, the older gentleman behind the counter, walked up to where I was at and yanked a paper from the counter and gave me a snarky look. That should've been my other window to leave, but I didn't. He didn't acknowledge me, he went back to his spot, across the room, sat down and continued on his tablet. There was an associate with him and it seemed like they talked to each other and then she was sent over to assist me. Now, during all of this there were 1 other customer being helped. A military lady and she was getting the service that one EXPECTS from a Kay jewelers associate. Not even that associate acknowledged me and said, "someone will help you shortly." Nothing. Still nothing. The snarky looking older man sent his associate to help me after I was standing around for like 10 minutes. That should have been my other window to leave, the lack of respect to acknowledge customers, whether they are window shopping or actually going to buy something special should not deter one from receiving great customer service. The younger associate walks towards me, speaks in a very nonchalant tone, "can I help you?" I've been wanting to purchase a replacement band that I lost. So, I told her what I wanted and she said she didn't know what it was. I showed her my order, she looked it up, found 1 but it was on clearance and a bigger size than what I wear She goes over to the snarky man for questions. The snarky man and her come back, he looks at me, looks at the tablet, looks at me again, and says, "we can't order that in the size you want. It's in clearance. We don't do sizing on clearance items." I understood what he was saying but why was he giving me a snarky tone the entire time? Couldn't he have been nicer? Like a proper Kay jewelers representative? Nope. Just said that and walked away. Window #3 to have just walked away, but I didn't. Now, at this point, I'm shocked by this crappy service and I should've gone to the other Kay jewelers across town but I saw something I wanted. I wanted a replacement band. I'm looking at the options available in store and online but after looking at them, I decided on one in-store instead. I'm excited to buy a replacement band, who wouldn't be?! I'll tell you who, that associate. Still the nonchalant attitude and asking the snarky man for assistance. The other associate who was helping the military lady sure was ecstatic for the options the military lady was choosing, but not the people helping me. Now, does that feel bad? It sure does. The magic of what makes Kay's jewelers a spot to be a lifetime customer is the attention to detail and care the associates give. Needless to say, I will not be coming back to this Kay jewelers anymore. Such a huge disappointment from what I'm used to from a Kay's jewelers. In the end, I still bought my wedding band, excited for the purchase but oh man, was that such a soul-draining purchase for something special.
Skye helped me pick out a beautiful pair of earrings! Very knowledgeable and pointed me in the right direction. Will definitely recommend and be back for more pieces!
