I remember coming a year or two ago, before Leaderboard took control of the location. I've just discovered there's a new Leaderboard location here; it's ENTIRELY different now, and a huge improvement. It feels much more spacious (relatively), with a much better game selection, though most of the older retro games are taken out. Instead, there's a selection of many Japanese arcade games—something that was sorely needed on this side of the city—with some fun western arcade games mixed in. That said, it's very different to the other two Leaderboard locations. It's tiny, and thus lacks the bar and food that the other locations served, instead having just a few vending machines in the corner. It's very small, so it can feel a bit lacking in game selection in comparison to the others. Yet, I feel it makes good use of its space, it has a similar feel to some of the smaller arcade locations I visited in Tokyo last month. I think one of the biggest draws is some of the updated or unique cabinets this location has over the others; Maimai DX is what I consider the shining star of this Leaderboard, plus it's connected to (private?) online servers, unlike Maimai Finale at the other locations. And most importantly, this location's right by where I live, so I can easily drive to it without wasting gallons of gas each time. Yet, I personally think it could be improved quite a bit. The main draw of the Leaderboard locations definitely seems to be the imported Japanese arcade games, especially as they're the only arcades with many of them in hours from the Jacksonville area. Since there's so little space in this location, I would like if they swapped out some of the traditionally more western arcade games (like ball-and-hoop type games) for more Japanese arcade games, like a bigger selection of rhythm or fighting games, especially as the Batt Family & Fun Center is not even a mile away and has a far better selection of western games with much more space. Leaderboard 3 would be better off focusing even harder on the niche, I'd say. I would especially love to see a Chunithm cabinet here so we don't have to take such a long drive to reach another Leaderboard, or maybe another Maimai DX so the game isn't occupied so easily. I feel the space could be optimized a bit better too for how small it is. It's still quite enjoyable for a tiny arcade on this side of the city, visiting it for some small play sessions. Though with just a few more games, I could see myself going out by myself or with friends a lot more regularly to this location. I look forward to seeing how it evolves in the coming months as I can see myself becoming a daily regular, but for now, I'll probably just be popping by once or twice a week for a few of the games.
as much as i love that they have certain rhythm games online on servers, they don't have the food and stuff like the other locations. there isn't gonna be enough room when it gets too crowded. parking isnt that great either. i enjoyed playing the upgraded taiko machine here but there's only one? had this location been more bigger, and thought a bit more through this review would have been higher. sorry. i'd just go to the one in shad rd.
Definitely had more of the arcade vibe which I love but was missing more of everything. But it’s understandable since it is part of a strip mall. Entrance is through the video game store by the way. Maybe great for a couple hours to pass by but too small for my adhd taste. They had maybe 6 pinball machines and one of each of everything else. No original DDR but they have the new style. Food and drinks are offered by vending machine. So usual sodas energy drinks chips and go snacks. Didn’t get the price to pay sorry it was too small for me to even want to play. I’m a little claustrophobic and don’t do well with small areas. I also didn’t see a bathroom. Not knocking the place they still provide some of the newer machines it’s just not for me.
I LOVE LEADERBOARD!!!!! LEADERBOARD FOR LIFE!!!! I have always been obsessed with rhythm games and I have never been able to share this passion with my friends outside of my small collection. This arcade has the most amazing rhythm games anyone could ask for. I am in love with the fact that this business is growing. They are generous and uniquely nerdy. I love their style, the way they support local artists to make the coolest murals, and most of all I love their selection of rhythm games. I live far away and I used to drive an hour to go to the closest coolest rhythm arcade around. Now I have three locations to choose from and I can just die happy. If you guys could please add a Pump It Up Dance machine please!!!!!!!! Also would you guys consider doing dance machine tournaments? I would love to even win just bragging rights. I don’t even need a prize.
very fun arcade with plenty of games and an amazing retro feel, plenty of racing games, rhythm and sports games. worth the money and is next to a good game store with ton of retro and current games and accessories.
