We visited Square Time NY (1515 Broadway) today around 7:20 PM. My daughters (ages 20 and 10) were excited to visit the K-pop store, but our experience was unfortunately cut short by an unnecessarily rigid interaction with staff. As we approached the entrance, my wife was holding a small taco wrapped in aluminum foil—leftovers from a meal we’d just finished. The staff member at the door explained that food wasn’t allowed inside, which we completely understood and respected. We immediately told our daughters to go ahead while my wife and I stayed at the entrance—literally one step inside the doorway on the floor mat—without moving further into the store. Despite this, the staff member (employee at the entrance) insisted we go back outside to “finish” the food, even though it was sealed in foil and we were clearly not eating it. It was raining, and we were standing in the entryway, not walking through the store. Our hands were sanitized, the food was wrapped, and we had already agreed not to enter further with it. The tone and insistence felt disproportionate to the situation and disrespectful to my wife. Rather than continue the interaction, we asked our daughters to leave and took our business elsewhere. (For context: We walked directly across the street to the Disney Store, where two security personnel were stationed at the entrance. We had no issues whatsoever—they were courteous and professional. This experience made the contrast with Square Time NY even more striking). To management: I encourage you to review your security footage from around 7:20 PM today. A small amount of flexibility and courtesy—especially given the weather and our immediate compliance—would have retained our business and goodwill. Your staff represents your brand, and this interaction did not reflect the welcoming environment K-pop culture is known for. I hope this feedback helps improve future customer experiences.
The store had a blast! They had a fun game where you had to find 7 hidden characters around the shop to win a prize. They also had a cool collection of kid-friendly stuff like bags and blind boxes 😊
This store is really cute they sell alot of different gift items and there's plenty of places in the store to take selfie. They have a signed memorabilia from the k pop group BTS and they have other Korean group posted on the walls. They are doing a pop up with the skincare company Soko Glam selling some of the best k beauty products on the market for a limited time. The staff was pretty knowledgeable and friendly about the skincare products too. The store is located in the middle of times square so its central to any transportation going to midtown
I’ve spent a lot of money at this store over time, but after today, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere. Just a heads-up to other consumers: **always inspect your items before leaving.** The manager chose to argue with me instead of resolving the issu even implying I should have brought a receipt back when that was never made clear in the first place. If that policy had been properly communicated, this could’ve been avoided. Most of the associates are friendly and helpful, and I appreciate them. But there’s one who’s consistently difficult, even though I’ve tried to keep things respectful. Also, Black K-pop fans do exist. It would be nice if the store acknowledged all kinds of customers and maintained clear, respectful service for everyone. Felt very discriminated against today and on display in front of other people. Disappointed, but I hope they do better.
Right in the heart of Times Square. The staff was warm and welcoming. The plushies are adorable and there’s a huge variety to choose from. They also had some great specials and sales going on, plus a little scavenger hunt that made browsing fun. Must-visit if you're a fan.
