My husband booked a birthday reservation for my 30th birthday at Losanti and it was beyond perfect! We told our incredible waiter, Trent, that this was our first meal out as a married couple & he went above and beyond to make this + celebrating my birthday so special for us!!! Could not have asked for better service, plus the food was INCREDIBLE! We ordered the crab cake & focaccia to start, bolognese with meatball & steak + frites as our entrees - and we shared their impeccable butter cake for dessert as a surprise to celebrate us. I cannot thank the whole team enough for making this dinner so special, but especially Trent for his perfect service! We cannot wait to return for future date nights. ❤️ We love Losanti!
We have been to Losanti several times over the last two or three years, but this is my first review. Losanti is our "go to" special occasions restaurant. The bad: -Our waiter smelled like smoke. I think during our meal he must have smoked again because he smelled even stronger of smoke about halfway through our meal. This was a black mark on our experience, for sure, and one we likely won't forget. Seemed very unprofessional. The Okay: -The focaccia appetizer was decent. The texture was spongier than I remembered. We actually prefer the version we can buy at Trader Joe's for $5. -The bolognese was okay. My wife said it was a 6 or 7 as opposed to Crown Republic, which is a consistent 10. At Crown Republic they put a ricotta cream on the bolognese too and also use pappardelle. Is a little odd this dish is better at a cheaper restaurant. The great: -The meatball appetizer is epic. With each bite I closed my eyes to savor and really focus on what I was tasting. I have only done this with a few dishes in my life. The toasted bread, while nice for the presentation, tastes really terrible. -The spaghetti and sauce were exquisite. I expected this to be an afterthought with my chicken parmesan, but it stole the show. -The chicken parmesan was the best version I have had anywhere, but my gosh that spaghetti. -The Mexican street corn side dish was also great. -The butter cake is one of the best desserts I have had. This one truly outshines its apple cake version 1st cousin at Crown Republic. Atmosphere is very good. Not too loud, but not too quiet. The dark lighting definitely sets the mood for a great meal. We love Losanti and recommend to many people, who at this price point, seem to only know Jeff Ruby restaurants. What a shame.
Enjoyed an amazing low lit dinner celebration. We were greeted & seated quickly in The Library area that was pretty full of guests. It was a small area with about 15 guests so it felt a bit loud upon our arrival, but eventually simmered down as larger parties left. Our server Sara was perfect, knowledgeable on steak cuts, friendly with a very welcoming soirit & offered us great drink & starter suggestions as it was our 1st time dinning. We chose the Last word & Honeysuckle for drinks. Both well made, STRONG but not overbearing. The Start: A crab cake w/ green beans(w/ peanuts) & a delicious sauce was very good after breaking through the crust. I do tend to take my crab cake less crunchy & fried. But it didn't take much away from the taste, it wad still good. For entrees we had the Salmon dish & a 10oz NY Strip(Medium) w blue cheese butter. Both were indescribably delicious in taste. I do feel my steak wasn't as tender as expected but it definitely tasted as it should. My wife enjoyed her salmon, but wished it was a bit bigger in portion size. The sides: *Chef's Kiss* We ordered brussel sprouts, elote corn & the truffle mac and cheese. My goodness every was good! Our the Mac was creamy, cheesy with a cheese crust on top. The elote corn w/ the lime & charred lemon juice was excellent. Those brussl sprouts were our absolute favorite side. Crispy veggies, salty pancetta peices & this outstanding balsamic glaze.. We ended the night with a slice of the butter cake & were blown away. Rich, buttery cake with a sweet icing crust. Topped with salted caramel galato. This was 200.00 well spent & I'm looking forward to returning and trying the pasta dishes.
Corey made our entire night amazing! So incredibly kind, caring, and funny and carries so much knowledge around not only the food menu, but the drink menu as well. Truly someone who loves his job. We ordered the Bone Marrow, Ribeye steaks, Mashed Potatoes, and Brussel Sprouts with a Sage Gimlet and Traditional Old Fashioned to drink. The food was wonderful, everything cooked perfectly. The drinks were great as well, thanks to Corey’s suggestion of the Sage Gimlet. And of course we finished our meal with the butter cake! It is a must have when visiting. We look forward to visiting Losanti again!
If you come for the food you be blessed with a simple and great selection. The value is there and made well, ….plated….meh. I was surprised by the fact that their great tasting food was so basically served. BUT I understand not all restaurants need to show off when honestly you’re getting a great steak or pasta served. I asked for minor condiments, and also had the longest wait for a drink. Maybe because it was an off day I don’t know, don’t care. When you command 30$ anything dishes, your now at a pricing point for step up service
