This is my 1st and last time I'll be visiting Planet Fitness. This place was awful. Flat out awful. My takeaways: 1. Half the machines didn't work for starters. My friend tried multiple cycling machines and none of them work. She had to end up using the cycling machine I used when I was done. 2. The janitor interrupted our (me and friend) workout routine to tell us that we cannot take a photo or video of ourselves working out. This pisses me off because he made me lose count of the leg reps I had done. So since he so rudely interrupted, I asked him a question about it. The story he told sounded like a bunch of bullshiggity. So after retrieving my belongings from the locker room, I noticed some signs on the mirror. At the very top of the mirror it said, "Post your triumph." Underneath that it states, "the use of cell phones and cameras is prohibited in the locker room." Okay, I get that, but why post this sign in the bathroom / locker room instead of out front where it can be seen? And how are we supposed to understand the double standard that has been set? I asked the man at the service desk about the double standard. He just replied in a very snarky voice, "That's just our policy." I replied, "Okay, sir. Well, I'm going to post a review this place. He said, " I don't care. Post what you want." I walked away saying, "I most certainly will and all of your remarks will be included in it." 3. The janitor began to follow me and my friend around to different workout stations to spy on us to see if we had heed his "warning." And no, I didn't heed his warning. I took photos and videos of myself working out so that I can keep track of the machines I used, and the reps I did. This made me very uncomfortable to have this guy lingering around just on the other side of the equipment just staring rudely and almost stalkerish. 4. The bathrooms were cleaned okay, but they weren't gleaming. The showers do have a nice build up of soap scum. Although I brought a gym bag, I opted to shower at home. 5. I personally won't be going back to this particular Planet Fitness location although it's the closest drivable one to my home. And anymore incidents like this at any other facility and I'll be cancelling my membership and joining Orange Theory Fitness, LA Fitness, or the WSC gym on 14th St that is in walking distance from my house. Take your chances with this "Hit or Miss" ghetto gym with its busted equipment. 1 ⭐ ~ This PF doesn't deserve that. They deserve zero stars.
The only real benefit of this Planet Fitness is that it’s open 24/7. I usually work out around 1 a.m., and the experience has consistently fallen short. The music is unreasonably loud—louder than what I play through my own headphones—and it creates an unnecessary club-like atmosphere. The playlist is mostly generic Top 40, which doesn’t help. The locker room is in unacceptable condition. Several lockers had stains, spilled liquids that looked months old, and even discarded medical gloves. I understand the gym needs to be cleaned during overnight hours, but the cleaning chemicals are so strong that it’s hard to work out while inhaling the fumes. Some equipment is also in disrepair. One of the lat pulldown machines has a broken leg pad, and one of the water bottle fillers sprays water onto the floor. The overall layout is cramped, with an oversized cardio area and a small, awkwardly placed weight section. This location also hasn’t received the updated equipment other Planet Fitness gyms now have. I have also noticed several gymgoers at this location thinks it's ok to take facetime calls while they workout. PF staff may not say anything to them, so on top of the unreasonably loud music, you may hear someone's personal conversations competing with the music blaring from PF's speakers and the music you may be trying to listen to through your headphones. For $25 a month, you get exactly what you pay for: a subpar environment, aging equipment, and workouts surrounded by chemical fumes. I tried to make it work, but I’ll be returning to a higher-quality gym soon. Also, I noticed most responses provided by Planet Fitness encourage gymgoers to share their concerns with management. I encourage Planet Fitness to take quality control seriously, and rather than placing the onus on customers to file a complaint with management in person, take the reviews shared by your customers seriously and work with your gym's management to address the issues people are bringing to your attention.
My experience at this Planet Fitness has been terrible. I was wrongfully banned after another member, who regularly uses the stair stepper, falsely told staff that I was recording him. About a month ago I made the mistake of taking a photo of the floor because of the large pool of sweat under his machine, which blocks the walkway in the gym. I was warned by the manager and understood that it would not happen again. The next time I came in, I did not take any photos or videos at all. Despite this, the staff banned me without showing any camera footage or providing any proof that I violated the rules, and they refused to give me the manager’s contact information. I had not been there in a week and had no idea I had even been banned until I tried to check in. The front desk employee, Jamaine, would not listen to my side of the story and treated me very disrespectfully. Instead of allowing me to speak with a manager or calmly review the situation, he called the police, who then told me I was banned from the premises. I have attached a photo of him, which was obtained from another persons negative review on how he treats customers. Seems like a pattern. To the manager or whoever oversees this location: please respond with a way to contact you directly (phone or email) so I can discuss this further. This has been an extremely frustrating and upsetting experience, and I plan to escalate to corporate if necessary.
This place is falling apart. The locker room has been falling apart for the entire nine months I've been coming here. Broken and/or missing locker doors. Pry marks suggesting forced entry. It's nuts. It's very clear management is avoiding spending any money on upkeep. The staff have always been respectful and friendly. Can't say the same for management. Today the water fountain/bottle fill station was out of order. I asked if they were perhaps comping the cheap, generic bottles of water they sell. Staff told me I'd have to buy them, though they also seemed frustrated by the policy. I spoke with a manager who couldn't have cared less and told me that, no, they did not have free water to replace the fountain. The level of rudeness from her was a terrible look for the company as a whole. It's a gym. Having access to water is literally a safety issue. The rudeness that came from the manager have me considering finding a new gym.
I used this gym for a week and I liked it a lot. The machines are in pristine condition, it is well organized, clean, and very reasonably priced. The front desk staff is also very helpful. You get 2 hours validated at the parking garage next door. I really enjoyed that this gym doesn’t seem to get crowded even during “rush hour”
