It seems that Project Plumbing (Project) has lowered its standards as illustrated in other reviews. The dispute began when I contacted Project, a local plumbing company, because water was backing up into my kitchen sink. From the beginning, I told both the initial technician, Ben, and the two technicians who later returned that I believed the backup was caused by a blockage, likely where the kitchen drain line tied into the rest of the system. I repeated this concern multiple times. During the first visit, Ben assessed the situation but focused primarily on potential code issues rather than the possibility of a blockage. Based on his view of the problem, he gave an estimate not to exceed $550.00. However, when other technicians returned the following day, they proposed a different approach. I accepted that the original estimate did not apply, given that the proposed work had changed. Despite my repeated emphasis on the potential blockage, the returning technicians also focused on other issues—none of which ultimately had anything to do with the real cause of the backup. The work they initially performed did not resolve the problem, and only after those steps failed did they finally investigate the blockage I had mentioned from the outset. Once they checked the line and cleared the obstruction, the actual problem was resolved in less than an hour. After receiving an invoice for $625.00, I emailed the company to explain my concerns. My position was that the bill should reflect the time and materials required to fix the true issue, not the time spent addressing unrelated problems. I suggested an adjusted total of $400.00, which I considered fair—$250.00 for one hour of labor and $150.00 for parts. The company responded by defending their pricing. They focused heavily on their overhead costs, including administrative time, two $70,000 service trucks, insurance, and taxes. They emphasized their commitment to reliability and professionalism, and the costs associated with maintaining their business. However, they did not address the core issue: the inefficiency of their troubleshooting process and their failure to consider the blockage until after other, unnecessary steps were taken. In my reply, I explained that while I respect the realities of business overhead, those costs do not justify charging for work that did not contribute to solving the actual problem. I also pointed out that bringing a second truck was their choice, not a customer obligation. I reiterated that my concern was value: work that addressed problems that didn’t exist, while my stated concern—the blockage—was overlooked until last. Despite this exchange, the company chose not to adjust the price. While I will pay the invoice, I made clear that I was dissatisfied with the service I received and will likely seek plumbing assistance elsewhere in the future.
Virgil and his team are absolutely TOP tier!!! They are one of the most professional, timely, and personable teams I've ever encountered. Amanda was also extremely courteous and helpful in making sure I knew exactly when the team was on the way! Let me save you some time if you are searching for plumbing and gas services... CALL THEM FIRST!
My first experience with Project Plumbing could not have been better. From my initial call to the office, the team was polite and clear about appointments. I was able to make an appointment quickly that was flexible for my schedule. I was told I'd receive a call when the plumber was on his way. The morning of my appointment, I received the call about -15-20 mins ahead of when Virgil would arrive - super helpful! Virgil arrived and introduced himself - let me describe my problem/questions and let me know exactly what he would do and even made a few suggestions to help improve the finished product - very thoughtful! He worked quickly and let me know as soon as he was done. We reviewed his work and he quickly and easily took payment. Virgil was kind, professional, conversational, and was super responsive to my additional plumbing questions. He gave great advice and advised me on a few improvements for other concerns. I thought the pricing was reasonable for the work done and I feel confident in the quality. Virgil seems like a very transparent, trustworthy, quality plumber who we wont hesitant to call again.
We highly recommend Project Plumbing and will not be looking elsewhere in the future! My first interaction with Stephanie, Phillip, and team was in regards to a pipe leak that I had gone back and forth with insurance on. Phillip came out assessed the situation and encouraged me to again turn it in to insurance and provided a detail explanation of what he felt was going on. With his advice and after having previous claim rejected, we refiled with his explanation and got the repair and damage all covered by insurance. Unfortunately, we went with the plumbing company the restoration company wanted to use, which did okay but were on the messy side and not very responsive. Our next interaction, an emergency, with Project Plumbing came after our water heater began to leak. We called them before they opened and they were quick to respond and send a plumber out. Chris did a great job with disconnecting the water heater and then looping in the owner about the situation. The owner came out and explained due to the limited room available he would have to special order a water heater, but would still be able to get our hot water back within two days. I inquired about a tankless water heater and he could not have been more honest. He would have loved to sell us one, but due to several factors knew it was not the right fit for our home and he would be taking advantage of us (love the honesty). The crew that replaced the water heater did a great job in a tight space including acrobatically maneuvering the water heater over our furnace without scratch. Project Plumbing was there for us when we needed them, they gave us a reasonable price, and were great communicators!
Project Plumbing was great! They scheduled me in a timely manner with Stephanie being helpful and receptive. Ryan came promptly and was very pleasant, professional, and respectful. He was even considerate enough to remove his shoes before coming in! He was knowledgeable, and his work was both clean and thorough. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this company; I plan on using them for all of my future plumbing needs.
