Terrible place. It’s not even 9:30 and they are already running 40 minutes behind for scheduled appointments! The waiting room has no ventilation (cov** is ancient history here?) the TV loops a LOUD infomercial that will drive anyone crazy! Would go anywhere else!
I came in to drop off a specimen sample. I visited and checked in as a walk-in. Quest has no drop box for specimen drop offs. They require you to have an appointment to be drop off. I have been waiting in the waiting room for 1.5 hours to drop off and still have not been seen. Quest is a $10B dollar company and their execs are profiting so heavily because Quest operates with a system that keeps staffing low, wait times high, and the burdens on staff and patients who have to waste hours of their day for a simple few minute procedure!! No Quest leader would ever put up with the customer service they provide. If you are a staff or customer, please continue to send in your complaints!
I was afraid to come here after reading the bad reviews, but I had a great experience. Got there a few minutes early and was called right at my appointment time. The technician was pleasant, skilled and efficient. It’s true there is no reception staff, but the kiosks were easy to use, and when when one person had difficulty, they asked for help when staff opened the door to admit a patient, and were taken care of. There was a walk-in list of 3-4 people on the display, and it was down to one by the time I left. I was there at 11:30 am - maybe it’s less busy then. Best part: just outside the lab door is a small cafe with coffee, espresso drinks and delicious breakfast sandwiches - perfect after having fasted for the lab tests!
Would've given two stars but had a terrific blood draw by a great technician and also, now I understand that a computer error caused a ridiculous long wait. My spot in line was somehow erased and would not have ever known to look for my place on the TV screen in the room. Only after two hours of trying to have patience with the loooong wait and trying to ignore a caregiver with her patient who was talking loudly having a conversations on her phones speaker, did I lose patience and finally got up to ask staff what was going on. I won't even go into what i had to tell the loud lady who got up after I did and insisted that everyone else was passing up her place in line (Even though she arrived 45 minutes too early and the others had appointments before her) girl sit down. Eventually I was placed back in line. So, who knows how long walk-ins take on average. I expected 1-1.5 hours max. The phlebotomist that drew my blood was EXCELLENT and I had expressed to her that my last draws always had either bruising or pain afterwards. She could not have done a better job and was completely professional and fast! Zero bruising, pain, and the needles mark is practically invisible. Quest, there has to be a way to prioritize appointments but also limit the waiting time for walk-ins. Make an appointment folks.
If I could give this place ZERO STARS I would. The phlebotomist today was a JOKE. Said she has been a phlebotomist for 8 years but she had zero empathy or compassion for drawing blood of my pre-teen child. My child accidentally chewed on a piece of gum on the way to the appointment and when they were honest with the phlebotomist when they asked if they fasted the phlebotomist reacted with attitude as if they were annoyed. Said they could not run the lipid panel because “gum is sugar, you did not fast”. After 5 minutes of back and forth I simply said “either draw my kid’s blood for the *other* labs ordered or make us an appointment to come back a different day”. In the end she just wrote a note in the chart that gum was chewed but no other food or drink. THEN when my child politely asked to use their left arm instead of their right the phlebotomist got weirdly snooty and said “no, we will do which arm I think is easiest. Hold out your arms.” My child did and they were both the same. I work in healthcare, I know that you need visual AND physical proof of easy vein access. The phlebotomist pointed to my child’s right arm and said “we’re doing this one”. I asked if there was a different phlebotomist to properly checku kid’s left arm for veins if she can’t do it and she said “no”. I asked her how long she’s been a phlebotomist and she said 8 years. She proceeded to put the tourniquet ribbon on my child’s right arm and I said “you’re not going to do that until you find someone to check her left arm. Then the phlebotomist said “okay it’s your choice I’ll do the left”. I said “no it’s not choice, it’s the PATIENT’S choice which you didnt even ask their preference to begin with nor did you properly take into consideration what their preference was when they said it.” I had enough at that point and told my child to get out of the chair and I would not have this unprofessional phlebotomist touch my child’s after such gross negligence. As we were walking out a different phlebotomist from across the hall decided to step outside and ask “are you not getting your blood drawn?” I said absolutely not, I don’t know wha kind of establishment you’re running here but this is unprofessional”. Will NEVER set foot in there again which is really too bad because it’s the closest location to our home. That lady needs to go for more training. Im considering reporting her to the health board. Awful experience.
