Genuine, honest mechanics. I’ve brought my little banger here for years for servicing and MOTs, and they always keep it running smoothly. They’re great at explaining what’s worth fixing and what isn’t. As a woman who doesn’t know much about cars, it can be intimidating elsewhere — but not here. I always feel safe, respected, and looked after, like they’d treat their own friend’s daughter.

I was recommended RW Autos by a family friend. The owner, Ian, was always polite and professional, but unfortunately I cannot say the same for some of his colleagues. On one occasion, I arrived without a booking and was rudely told to call ahead next time. The quality of work was good while Ian was there, but after his passing I experienced several issues. First, I brought my car in for what I suspected was a coolant tank leak. Despite my concerns, I was repeatedly assured the tank wasn’t leaking. They replaced multiple parts related to the cooling system, yet the issue persisted. When I returned, they told me I wouldn’t have to pay extra because the problem was connected to work they had already done. However, instead of reducing the £400 labour charge, they simply shifted the cost onto the replacement part. This felt dishonest and money-driven. This was not the only time I’d had to make multiple visits to RW Autos following a supposed fix. I later took the car to another mechanic who cleaned the area and correctly identified that the coolant tank was leaking — something RW Autos failed to diagnose after two visits. On another occasion, I had arranged to collect my car after work, only to find it wasn’t in the agreed pick-up location. I called several times before finally getting through, at which point I was told they had simply forgotten to move it. I then had to return the following day, and only after insisting did they agree to cover the congestion charge I incurred because of the delay. There were also multiple times when I specifically asked for a call back to confirm prices before work was carried out. Instead, the work was done without my approval, leaving me feeling like they were making decisions and prices without consulting me. On a separate visit, after being told to book an appointment for the next morning, I returned at my scheduled time only to be questioned quite abruptly about whether I had booked at all. Finally, during an MOT visit, my car key came back visibly damaged. The metal blade, which had been smooth and straight (it was a new dealership key), was now bent with noticeable ridges. I had to return to the garage, where Ian kindly oiled and straightened it as best as he could. Overall, my experience with RW Autos has been increasingly disappointing. Since Ian’s sad passing, the professionalism and reliability I once trusted simply haven’t been there, and I often felt like they were more focused on extracting money than providing honest service.

Really helpful garage and staff! Very kindly lent me their jump starter kit for free to get my car started when other garages didn’t want to help! Battery had completely died and they helped me to get things back up and running!

Great mechanics. Took my car there for some repairs and they were very fair with the pricing. I took it again recently because my car tracker wasn’t working and i thought the issue was with the port. They took a look and didn’t charge because it turns out the tracker was faulty. Great service and it’s the only place I take my car to when I have mechanical issues. Can’t recommend it enough.

These guys are absolute gems! Honest, helpful and polite, not to mention they know what they’re doing. I first came across them last year after a minor accident and they clipped my side panel back on for me (free of charge). Most recently I returned to have my brake pads changed and they were quick, efficient and very reasonably priced. They’re lovely guys too and I highly recommend them.
