0 stars. Hacking up plants under the guise of “landscaping” and completely made a mess of bushes and native plants. Did not clean after the hacking either. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere with landscapers who know what they are doing and who know how to care for native plants.
A wonderful group of concerned, talented workers, managers, and supervisors. Struggles office-to-field miscommunication. Frustrating to those wanting to provide exceptional services as do those of us who get landscaping services. Todd (trusted Design Consultant presented a wonderful concept), and sincerely eager to provide what we had asked for. From the start, found method of project management (i.e. Phase ONE completed / paid, then proceeding to Phase TWO, etc.), perhaps for Santa Rita easier presenting this to most customers (financially speaking?); but our experiences these many months, drew out our process far too long, thus opened it up to more misunderstandings. We soon found mistakes on our job seemed to stem from this fact yet remained a given on how we would proceed with Santa Rita – to the point we almost backed out of considering starting our second phase! We experienced unfortunately, that plans we had asked for in written and verbal detail in initial consultation, early-January with Todd, when finally back almost 2 months later for our approval – needed still around 85% to be ‘redone.’ Plans for our “custom” gardens, appeared instead to be ‘stamped out’ – rather than designed with our project's wants/needs! It was opposite of the notes Todd left here with, on our first day. Rather than presenting a custom project plan following “timed & irrigated low-water use” planting of pre-chosen bushes for our “Butterfly / Hummingbird / Bee Garden,” Santa Rita's instead was for minimalistic desert xeroscaping with cacti and boulders. In spite of initial verbal approvals, we received 'official' plans, so different it set our project behind another month; as no one in scheduling had ever cued us up, even with our deposit long cashed... Todd seemed lost at times between what he thought was happening and what THE OFFICE was doing (or not!). We felt frustrated, began to lose trust in the process. Needing to check up better, even supervise what their crews were doing, for ourselves, that they were following OUR specifically-desired design, as we had originally approved – rather than being told, by our initial “Custom Residential Supervisor,” Lalo (first to trigger real 'regret,' in us having taken on this project with Santa Rita), when his harsh answer to our questions was simply, “these ARE your plans!” Questions that included things like, why we were scheduled for eleven - 5 gal. containers (of various plantings), yet only received eight, with most in a 1 gal. container, plus there was only two different types of flowering bushes! Not the healthiest looking either; especially for the price we chose to invest-in, given our very small yard, and our garden’s best future outcome. Meanwhile, we are unfortunately now at the end of May, and we still are waiting for three additional 5 gal. plants and irrigation to my pots, as still listed on our original project contract (which stated properly our job, yet rarely matched the project plans given to the crews). Jobs will often cost more, and yes – do go over completion times, that were promised. Simple fact remains, unfortunately for our family, all this miscommunication from the start of January (although they have “been responsive”) means we have missed-out on ALL of our Spring 2024 celebrations – parties that had been planned for when we started back in early January – then promised they’d have no problems finishing up by the end of March, both for my mid-April birthday, and what had started all this when we first bought our new home: our Open House Celebration with introduction to our new neighbors… now many have left for the summer, so we will be planning a late fall party instead. Hope things progress easier, finish-up soon.
We used Santa Rita to design our yard and install it. Everything turned out great. It was a good experience and their crews were fantastic. You won't be disappointed.
I would like to commend the folks at Santa Rita Landscaping for a job well done installing our new landscape design — which was previously a patch of dirt that came with the house when we purchased it eighteen months ago. The design was created by their in-house design team who responded to our wish-list, along with their intimate knowledge of which plants would survive and/or thrive in our desert climate. The final design called for paved walkways and seating areas, a water feature, a turf area, and generous plantings with rich textures and colors. The installation was led by Enrique who, along with his crew, executed the design with precision, efficiency, and thoroughness. Enrique proved to be very knowledgeable and quite skilled at laying the pavers, building the water feature, and installing the plantings and irrigation. While working in Arizona’s extreme June heat, they completed the job in a timely manner, accommodating our personal design “tweaks” and maintained a cheerful and courteous demeanor. Keone, the project manager, was also very responsive to our questions and concerns throughout the buildout and resolved all issues quickly. We would be pleased to recommend Santa Rita Landscaping to anyone interested in a quality landscape installation project.
We picked Santa Rita Landscaping after reviewing many photos on the internet. What attracted us to the was their overall theme, which in many cases centered around a fountain. I have a water fountain my Dad built 57 years ago for a house he designed. I always wanted to use the fountain somehow, but never had a good idea on how to implement it. We called Santa Rita in October of 2020 and met with Jeremy. He listened to our goals, showed him our current landscape photos and outlined our budget. He had some good ideas and we agreed to move forward with a proposal from them. We met again in mid-December, which Jeremy showed us a very detailed, professional drawing of their vision for our project. After going through the plan, we made a few minor changes and signed the contract. We also signed a contract for a Pergola that is handled by one of their trusted partners. They stay very busy, with work scheduled out several months. This is a sign of a good contractor IMO. We got a window for the work at the end of March 2021, which worked out well for us. A meeting was held at our house with Jeremy, Esteban (Foreman), myself and wife. We went over all details. One issue that came up several weeks before the work begun was our choice of pavers. With COVID-19 problems, tumbled pavers was near to impossible to be had. Jeremy and Kristy (the project administrator) were able to track down the correct pavers in Phoenix and have them delivered on site without additional cost to us! Outstanding. On the start date, everyone converged on our house....porta John delivery, pavers, gravel, sand, dirt, and the crew. I oversaw a worldwide engineering firm for years and the start day always amazed me to see it all come together. This was no exception...these guys are professionals! The crew lead was Jose'. This guy is amazing! He aways had our plans close to him and was able to sequence all the steps perfectly. Our job was not huge, but required 2-weeks schedule for completion. The way Jose' sequenced it, I thought it was all out of order, but by the 4th day, I saw how expertly he had it managed. I also had HVAC replacement scheduled at the same time and had wanted pavers placed for the outdoor condenser units. Jose' made sure they were installed in time for the HVAC contractor. In fact, provided a very sturdy and level base where the condensers will never have a sinking problem. Jose' placed all the pavers, including the curvy sidewalk path he made out front. Did an outstanding job! The plumber/electrician, Juan and I discussed how to power the low voltage lights as well as connect up the fountain. I really had no clue how he was going to build the fountain. He came up with a perfect solution by drilling a 1/2" hole through a rock and placing the fountain head through the hole and allowed the rock to be the base! I would have never thought of this! It was perfect! He also fixed our irrigation supply and provided the water to the fountain by connecting into the main water supply to the irrigation system. This has worked well. I use Apple Homekit smart switches made by Meross to control the fountain and the low-voltage lights. Jose' was always available to me to discuss how he thought certain things should be done and made sure I was in agreement before proceeding. Our communications was excellent and I never felt he pushed his idea on me, but rather was alway interested in making sure I was pleased with how every detail was done. This was refreshing to me. Usually one had conflicts with contractors, but not one conflict and all outstanding items were address immediately. I cannot speak highly enough on Santa Rita Landscaping! It is interesting to me that I hired CertaPro Painters to paint my exterior since all my landscaping and HVAC work is complete. Joe, the owner came out to provide a quote and remarked how nice the landscaping was. He wanted to know who done it, when I told him, he got all excited as he recently signed a contract with Santa Rita Landscaping to do landscaping at his house!
