My sis came to visit me and asked if I knew of a kids hair shop in Austin. I didn’t but she searched and found SC4 Kids for her son. She loved the whole experience, from the picture updates, the wash and blow dry, and the outcome. We were all so pleased. I will for sure keep this place in my options for when family come into town. Thank you!

I want to address the experience my daughter and I had, because the level of communication and professionalism was unacceptable. Please understand — just because you are a manager or in a position of authority does not give you the right to mistreat anyone. My intention is not to get anyone fired or looked down upon; it is simply to inform and hopefully ensure that others have a better experience than I did. I booked this appointment three weeks in advance for a retwist, detox, and any style. I also emailed ahead of time with questions, and no one responded. When I arrived, I was told that the stylist who handles loc styling wasn’t there — meaning my daughter could not get the style she needed for her event. No one contacted me beforehand to communicate this change. On top of that, I was told that the detox I paid a deposit for could not be done either. Someone eventually did a three-minute “detox,” which was not sufficient or what I scheduled. Throughout all of this, I was left standing with no direction, no guidance, and no communication from anyone. I waited about 25 minutes before I finally had to ask what was going on. While McKenzie did a great job on my daughter’s retwist, the overall customer service from management was extremely disappointing. When I attempted to calmly communicate about the situation, the manager raised her voice, spoke to me in a disrespectful tone, and asked, “What else do you want?” I even tried to be understanding and apologized on my end to help reconcile the misunderstanding and get clarity on their process, but the attitude continued. That is not how you speak to any client — especially someone who booked weeks ahead, reached out early, and remained respectful throughout the inconvenience. You never know who you’re talking to, and professionalism should always be the standard. The issue was not the stylist’s comfort level with doing any style or someone else having to do a detox, because the stylist I book with didn’t know how to do it style or a detox, The issue was the lack of communication, the lack of direction, and the unprofessional behavior from management. This absolutely needs to be addressed. I even tipped, despite being treated rudely. Clearly this place does not want to take accountability for how they treat their customers. My 12-year-old daughter came in for a style for a special event, as well as a full detox — services we booked almost three weeks in advance. She did not receive the services we scheduled, and there was absolutely no communication. I emailed twice prior to the appointment, weeks ahead, and never received a response. The lack of communication was unacceptable. I truly hope that, moving forward, this review helps them treat other paying customers with basic common courtesy and professionalism.

This has been a great introduction to salons for my niece. The staff does an amazing job with being patient towards kids that struggle with getting their hair done - they allow breaks and talk to them. They do an amazing job caring for natural hair.

What a wonderful group of ladies. Our daughter has been there a few times and they have always done such a fantastic job. I took our daughter last time and she was quite grumpy and tired, but they are so patient and caring. They are such a great and child friendly set up. Truly fantastic.

I love the overall experience at SC4Kids! The staff is wonderful. As a single mom of a little it was a much needed adjustment in our hair care routine. Thanks to the staff my daughter loves her natural hair and regularly express the importance of taking great care of herself including her hair! This salon is excellent and revolutionary. I love that we get to experience a healthy environment that truly helps build confidence at such a young age! I do my part to help the process by making sure my daughter has snacks and anything else needed for comfort as the wonderful staff do the steps necessary to continue healthy growth and love on my 5 year old. I really look forward to the days SC4 Kids is in multiple states ! 10/10 I absolutely recommend!
