We had a great experience with Simas Flooring. It took me a long time to finally select the laminate in the right color and style for our home. Simas had the one my husband and I both like and thought would look good with our existing cabinetry. I shopped around at several flooring stores and finally went with Simas. We worked with Tara, she initially came out to take measurements and gave us a preliminary estimate. Once we made our final selection Tara gave us a detailed quote. She was great to communicate with and the installer she picked for us was awesome, he and his assistant were timely, detailed, and considerate to our being in the home while the install was done. Our floors turned out beautiful. All the work was planned and directed by Tara from start to finish. It was a big project. Carpet and tile was removed, slab foundation meticulously leveled and grinded, flooring installed, and new base boards. Can't say enough good things about Tara's installer and Tara, they are Grade "A". We picked a Gem Core wide plank laminate, it's so beautiful, and easy to care for. If you are considering new flooring I highly recommend Simas Flooring.
We purchased carpet and LVP, but the LVP was installed wrong and cracked do it to installation errors. However, Simas refused to ackowledge any mistake and wanted to charge us full price to fix their mess. So, be warned and don't trust Simas to do a good install or stand by their work.
I had a great experience with Simas. Simas was the third place I went to for an estimate. The first two were really disappointing. The first estimate, for laminate and tile, took about three weeks to get. That estimate was incorrect in terms of the footage. They sent a corrected estimate for the laminate, but never did get back with the tile estimate. The second estimate appointment was forgotten by the sales person once, and then cancelled once. I finally did get an estimate, and pricewise it was in line with the first. But neither place inspired me with trust in their work ethic, timeliness or attention to detail. Then I called Simas. Their estimate was a little higher than the other two, however my experience with David Highfill was key to my choosing Simas. He showed up on time to our appointment and, per my request, brought the laminate sample I was interested in, along with two others. When I still wasn't sure, we went out and looked at the large library of other samples in his truck. He also had a large book of baseboard options for me. His final estimate included several options, so I could choose the one that worked best with my desires and budget. All through the process of making final decisions, David answered my emails within an hour or so. He was so professional and knowledgeable, positive and reassuring that I felt confident in deciding to go with Simas. The installation was amazing. We thoroughly emptied the house of everything but the large furniture, as Simas requested. The contractors showed up on time or early every day. They did about 1660 square feet of beautiful Mannington laminate in four days, along with new pine baseboards. We were able to be there the first three days. The contractors were really friendly and polite. They tried to do things in a way that allowed us to live and sleep in the house while the install was going on. Their last day my husband and I were both working. We came home to find the job completed and looking great. They did a good job of estimating the materials, there is enough left over for any future repairs that may be needed, but not an excessive amount. We've been living with it for about two weeks now and I just love it. It looks just the way I hoped it would.
We had a good experience with Simas. Tara was a very responsive salesperson and listened to our needs and budget and put us in the right product lines to evaluate so we weren't looking at something we couldn't afford or wouldn't meet our needs. All their carpet product is long wearing nylon, so I appreciated their commitment to a product they could stand behind, having had a poor experience with polyester with my clients, and then having to fight with the manufacturer to honor the warranty. I got the feeling Simas took seriously their commitment to the customer. We ordered both luxury vinyl plank and carpet from them and were very happy with all the installers. They were very professional and committed to doing an excellent job. I also want to note that we checked their pricing against 3 other dealers, and found the pricing to be very competitive. One of the other dealers we researched was Home Depot and Simas beat Home Depot's pricing with a better product, more knowledgeable sales and support staff, and guaranteed installer quality. Don't just assume Home Depot is cheaper, if budget is a consideration, as it was with us. We are so glad we worked with Simas!
3 out of 5 stars for Project Planning and Scheduling. Do not recommend If you would like to pay more than other installers, take 2.5 weeks to complete when realistically it could be done in three, be on-call at home with the worker(s) for their 10-12hrs shifts then SIMAS is for you. Honestly, I can only hope our situation was an anomaly as their installers were true craftsman and some of the hardest workers we’ve seen in the past two months as my wife and I completed a live in remodel. SIMAS project planning and scheduling is were it truly fell short. Project Planning – Didn’t order enough material and therefore had to wait 2.5 weeks to finish our stairs, and misc trim pieces. Scheduling – Day 1 (Wed) and army of workers. Completely demo’d downstairs with tearing up tile, resurfacing, and installed flooring. No baseboards. Full day, and impressed with the tempo 0800-1900. Broke the toilet water connection downstairs, after they finished the floors around there it remained inoperable for nearly a week until I fixed it myself as the workers would be using our personal bathrooms. Day 2 – One guy, very talented and would have finished the stairs and most delicate trim pieces but ran out of material. 0800-1930 Day 3 – Two guys for the entire upstairs 0800-1900. No base boards yet. Went into the weekend with furniture still away from the walls for baseboards. Was told Sunday, but cancelled same day at 1000. It was Valentine’s Day weekend and we cancelled plans to stay home. (Very Poor planning and customer consideration) Monday – One guy 0800-2000 to do base boards all day, no break. Impressive but an inconvenience for those that likes to remain home with a worker in their home. Ran out of materials couldn’t complete. Materials were en-route to arrive on Friday; if they don’t arrive SIMAS will notify you so you can at least go to work. No call came Thursday, also no worker showed on Friday when they said materials were to arrive. At 9am on Monday, still no call or show for workers. After a heated phone exchange that morning, they dispatched their top guy to finish up the baseboards, and returned later that week when the product finally arrived. Lastly, at the end of the project we were supposed to have 2 boxes of flooring. After several searches they finally believed us that we didn’t have any left. Overall it took 2.5 weeks (Feb 10-March 1st), and after going through 2 months of remodeling this 2.5wks didn’t help. The floors look fantastic with the exception of one defect that wasn’t caught earlier. Luckily SIMAS stands by their product and install, which is why we went to them in the first place. Their workers, product, and warranty are top notch but the above issues are the main reason why I can’t recommend them.
