Truckee River Rock and Nursery how do I love thee? Let me count the ways… Service service service! Followed by Selection, uniqueness (is that a word?) I could literally spend all day here dreaming of what I could do with the materials they have to choose from. Purchased some DG for my new flower beds around my patio, can’t wait for the Bonsai classes to start up in spring again! The staff is so friendly and helpful. Reasonable prices. Great local vibe and it’s awesome to have a small business close to home to support.
Arrogant woman behind counter. Delivered nthe wrong product and when I call them and talk to her on the phone she wouldn't let me put in a word edgewise and basically said I was wrong on everything. Go to Reno Rock if you need materials!
I needed a 1/4 yard of rock and they refused to sell me that. Would only charge me for a half yard and told me to just take what I needed and then leave the rest for them. Ridiculous. I was kind and patient, but they refused to accommodate and wanted to charge me for more than I could take. I ended up paying for a half yard, the guy scooped a half, and then put a 1/4 back in the pile.
I purchased some landscaping rocks for my front yard. Since I went on a whim based on my friend's recommendation, I was not planning on purchasing anything. I just wanted to take a look. They have a lot of variety of sizes and colors of rocks. I was looking for grey rocks about 8 to 12 inches large to create a ring around our large pine tree. I ended up getting some grey rocks that are called fractured. Since I did not bring a truck, I bought the rocks by the bag instead of by the yard. The young man in the office was very nice and the price was very reasonable. I went to work putting rocks in the bags. The gentleman outside took pity on me and helped me out the largest rocks in my car. There were a couple of other people there at the same time as me. I was fine moving the rocks on my own but I really appreciated the help with the largest rocks. Next time I'm bringing a truck. Overall I am very happy with my experience!
This is not a place for a a Home owner creating their home landscaping. I chose and paid for the rock I wanted for my yard expecting delivery or assistance with loading. I was told to find the guy in the loader. I then had to walk a long distance to find the guy. He loaded the stone and dropped it on the ground near my car. We had to hand load into our car trunk. After loading a little over 1/2, the back windows of the car shattered. Okay - I expected service like Home Depot or Lowes. No service and no credit for stone left on the ground. NOTE: in my opinion this isn't a real nursery as there was no real selection of plants. They had tons of daylilies for $19 which is ridiculous.
