My husband scheduled an appointment for our cat, we’ve been going here for at least 4 years and haven’t had any complaints. However, when my husband went in recently they told him the appointment was only for a nail trim, and that if we wanted her to have an actual wellness visit it was 140$. They then told us you can’t even schedule wellness visits online, however that’s obviously not true if you log in. If you log in to the website, they only charge 95$ for exams with an appointment. This was super confusing and just plain irritating. At the end of the day, we trim our cat’s nails at home. Even though we were already there and had an appointment, we decided against the 140$ check up. This ended up costing us 40$ for a trim we didn’t need. Honestly kinda checks out as this place seems to prescribe gabapentin to every animal they can. Doesn’t make sense you are in the veterinary business and don’t know how to keep a cat calm. Still super disappointing to see they’ve turned into a scammy business, especially after being so affordable in the past. Won’t be returning if I can help it.
Every time we’ve visited the walk-in clinic outside of our normal vet’s hours, our experience has been exceptional. We’ve been seen very quickly and the staff and doctors are all so friendly and compassionate. Highly recommend.
Dr. Peterson took care of my kitty who swallowed a piece of string. She was reassuring, kind, and professional. I am so happy that she did a great job and that he’s going to be okay. The staff are excellent as well. Great place to take your pets!
I had the best experience possible. Front desk was wonderful and friendly. Vet tech was truly interested and took their time. The doctor we spoke with was amazing. She is incredibly smart and confident in her recommendations. We felt very well taken care of. Absolutely love this place I’ll be back and recommend to my friends and clients. They actually cared about my dog. Alex berry was incredibly helpful and compassionate and I feel fortunate to have found these wonderful folks. ❤️, Franklin (Chihuahua) and Lindsay and tomren
We are beyond grateful to have found Urban Animal on Capitol Hill when our regular vet couldn’t fit us in. One of our cats had been struggling with constipation for nearly a week, and the situation was becoming stressful for all of us. From the moment we arrived, the staff treated us with genuine warmth and professionalism. Myjah and Lexi were exceptionally kind, attentive, and knowledgeable — not only with our skittish cat but also with our other one, who was examined as well. Dr. Gambino was thorough, sensitive, and clearly very competent. They quickly identified the issue (a significant buildup) and administered the right treatment, including an enema. They didn’t just solve the problem on the spot — they also sent us home with clear instructions and the supplies we would need to continue care if needed. What stood out most was how human the experience felt. We were seen quickly, treated with compassion, and left with both relief and confidence in the care provided. The facility itself is modern, clean, and well-organized — and an added bonus: they offer free parking, which is rare and very welcome in Capitol Hill! The experience was so positive it honestly makes us reconsider where we’ll take our cats in the future. Thank you, Urban Animal, for treating our little family with such care.
