The entire AGC team is incredible. My wife and I did a full gut remodel/rebuild on a 1912 house in San Francisco. We took the entire house down to the studs and then moved and replaced all the studs. To say we were terrified is a complete understatement. We talked to several GC's, and were referred to Aaron Gordon by our architect. He stood out from the start, and there was really no question who we'd go with after meeting with him and running through his process. He broke down and explained every aspect of the project, and priced out the entire thing in advance. And this wasn't a rough ballpark quote like you get from most GCs, it was down to every detail. We were always in the loop on every aspect of the project. We had bi-weekly onsite check ins, and they provided weekly summaries of work completed and what was on the schedule for the coming week. We were never in the dark. Most importantly, I am happy to say now that the project is over, there were no surprises, and they finished on time and on budget (slightly below actually). That's quite an accomplishment considering the scope of work involved. Their quality is top notch, and the entire team is 100% professional. Not to mention they are just genuinely really good people. They would repeatedly go above and beyond what's expected. Just as one example (to which there are many), right when we moved in we tried to start garbage service through Recology and have bins sent to our house. Unfortunately Recology was hacked and their systems were down for weeks. We had nowhere to put our garbage, so the AGC team swung by several weeks in a row to literally pick up our personal garbage, just as a courtesy until we finally got bins sent to us. I could rattle off countless examples, but I just wanted to highlight the level of service they provide. I was flat out impressed at how they conducted themselves both professionally and personally. This whole thing could have been so stressful, but the team ensured it never got to that point. I dare say it was even enjoyable. It was amazing to watch our home transform knowing it was in good hands. I have zero hesitation recommending them to anyone starting a new project. They are as good as it gets, and they will be our go to for all our future needs. So happy we were referred to AGC.
AGC is a top-notch General Contractor. They are well established and respected in the Bay Area high-end construction and remodeling world. We hired AGC to assess and repair the siding of our building that was experiencing some water intrusion. Our first meeting was a lengthy analysis of the structure and a detailed diagnosis of the likely cause of the intrusion. They identified a few different strategies to deal with the repair and tie back into the existing waterproofing and siding. Subsequently, we were provided with a detailed estimate itemizing all the costs involved which made it possible to compare to other bids. They were clear about what needed to be replaced, what could be reused, and what we could do but didn't need to do. While onsite, the team was so courteous of our space, and worked so efficiently I barely knew they were there. They left our yard clean and tidy everyday. Most importantly though is the quality of the craftsmanship brought to bare. As the project unfolded, and the true extent of the damage was revealed, their plan at the outset allowed for them to handle these unknowns in stride and on budget. They cut no corners and did the job right, which is ultimately the number one criteria for hiring a contractor. This winter has really put this waterproofing work to the test and it has held up flawlessly. I put a high value on quality of work, trust, and professionalism. If you wan the same for your construction project, look no further. When researching contractors, I tried to learn about the company beyond just their license certification and status. AGC is owned by an SF native and has a large team of long-timers. That says a lot in the construction world about who you are dealing with. If you want peace of mind that your project is being done right and at the right price, I cannot recommend AGC highly enough.
I was so nervous getting the work done on our house. First let me start by saying we live in San Bruno where it’s notoriously hard to get permits and the wait is endless. We wanted to hire local, but went with AGC from the city for several reasons. They showed up to bid the job on time and immediately gave us suggestions on how to get more bang for our buck. Aaron spoke to us like we were real people and asked what we wanted and how his company could serve our needs. He didn’t up sale like the others, he actually told us how we could save money by putting the bathroom in the back of our house. We hired them and can I say customer service!!! We didn’t want to move out and they worked around that, our dog is protective and they worked around him. During spring break they kept the cold water I so we could use the toilet. These things found trivial, but you get major work done on your house and you will appreciate these perks. Now our work is done and I kid you not I smile every time I open my door. Impressive isn’t even the right adjective!!! Life changing home, bathroom, closets, flooring and may I add.. the subcontractors they use are just as good. They painted and fixed my garden up to the point I don’t want to leave. They were able to push our permits through and finished early 😳😳😳 I cannot thank them enough!
My husband is actually very handy around the house and is a diehard DIY'er. So it says a lot for him to trust someone else to do the work. And the work that AGC did for us was excellent. They replaced galvanized piping with copper which is located underneath a 1920's house. Not the easiest thing to do especially in the middle of winter. So to do this in just a few short days was incredible. We were able to move in earlier than scheduled thanks to Aaron and Dustin. They are also very professional and reliable, showing up to the job when they actually say they will. Unheard of, right? While my husband still likes to tool around the house, he knows well enough to call AGC when necessary.
What can I say? Aaron is the person to call, for anything. Not only is he extremely knowledgable but he is also a very reasonable and kind person. I do not trust many people, I trust Aaron. Period. I met him when we moved into our house and I needed an estimate on some pest work, found him randomly on Yelp. He came over and told me to not worry about fixing the small area since it would take so long for the pests to so any significant damage, we would have had to already replace the entire deck due to the age of the wood. I love logical thinking. He came to my rescue when our upstairs flooded and I was home alone with a newborn. Talked me through what to do and reassured me that I had not destroyed our house. I trust him to tell me the truth and to do a good job. Not good, great. Had one of his subcontractors come to repair my dining room ceiling (after aforementioned flood), pretty sure that the room was cleaner when she left then when she came. And the ceiling was flawless.
