This is a great restaurant. My wife and I have been coming here for 20 years. We'll, 20 for her, 15 for me. We have never had bad service. Once in a great while the food comes out wrong but its always been fixed quickly. But that's rare it's wrong. Our favorite servers are Ricardo, Grace, and Marty. Friendly, and very attentive to our family. Lacy is doing a terrific job as the new GM. Very personable and engaging. Always a joy being here.
Abuelo's is a southwest "Mexican" restaurant. The red chile is actually a chili con carne. They don't sell burritos to order, and the chimichanga is a poor substitute. I got the steak and enchilada. The papas were so good, like a creamy scalloped potatoes! The steak was a good cut, but it was overly seasoned (salted). The service is good. If you are happy with the menu it's great. If you're thinking you're getting New Mexician food it's a miss.
I really don't know where to begin, I was skeptical at first, and unfortunately I was right again. I come a LONG line of great city's and great Mexican food! By far the worst of 4 places that say they are authentic. The host was not pleasant at all! Our SERVER WAS AMAZING! Her name is (Kessnia) was super amazing, then we sit at a BOTH/table because my wife is unfortunately temp disabled, I took the both bar and it was broken, almost fell through it, then the food comes out and I had ordered the chicken enchiladas. That was the worst part of the the dinner! The rice tasted like it was made from a box, the Beans where drier then the desert out here! I wanna thank the manager got the comp food, but unfortunately I would not let my Dog eat it, then I was asked to try their cheese cake, I'm a Huge fan of cheesecake and let me say, a blind man could of made it better, if it was not for the GREAT SERVER. I would have walked my wife did not even finish her food, how bout get some real COOKS. I'll try again maybe later in the year and STICK To your sign, if you say you're authentic stick to it get real Cooks.
This is a really busy place. ADVISE - book a table or you will be waiting. Food was amazing and I took the open table rather than wait for the main table. The food is as good as it gets, only way it would be better is actually home made, so pretty close to perfect.
I haven’t been to Abuelo’s in 20 years! The fact it’s still standing in this location tells me all I needed to know. Hands down the greatest Mexican food I’ve had in probably forever. I’m over here kicking myself for not returning sooner. The location is beautiful inside. From the nice decor, large bar and comfortable seating we had a great time. Our server was friendly and attentive. He gave great options he liked off the menu. We started with the Diablo Queso and it was delicious! It also comes with its own chips. The table comes with free chips and three salsas if you don’t want to order extra appetizers. For main courses we ordered the green chile pork chimichanga and Chicken Tampiquena. My husband chose of a side was their signature mashed potatoes (freaking phenomenal). The refried beans tasted homemade and I loved the flavors of my chicken Tampiquena mixed with the rice and seasoned veggies. Even though we were so full by the end we just had to try their Dulce de Leche Cheesecake. 11/10 would recommend even if you took it home for later. So good! Best part besides of course the food was the prices. They offer a great happy hour as well as reasonable prices meals with huge portions. We can’t wait to be back.
