Large and varied selection, with some fine uncommon books you don't see that much, but are great finds if you are an engaged reader. The owner suggested a Book and I felt it was a perfect fit for my reading enjoyment. Worth exploring.

Good book selection, cute cat, however the lighting was dim, the place smelled intensely of cigarettes and the store keeper was a bit odd. Not rude but odd. The shop keep was not dressed for work more casual than expected. The store isn't very inviting because the store is somones upstairs apartment. The door said that we would be charged if we pet or took photos of the cat (we did not pet or take photos of the cat so can not confirm or deny).

This is the absolute cutest little bookstore I’ve ever been to! The owner or manager or whoever works there is very sweet and super helpful. AMAZING and massive collection of all sorts of genres. Philosophy, religion, fiction, fantasy, EVERYTHING you could possibly think of! The little adorable cat greeted us kindly at the door too. Such a wonderful place and the books are extremely good price. Awesome experience and definitely underrated! 😄💗

Barely Bruised Books is definitely a place to check out in Sandy Hill! It’s basically a thrift store for books. The manager is friendly and his cat Milo is always a pleasure to see. It’s a tad crammed but usually not busy. If you’re looking for a new book but don’t know which one you want, there’s sooo many options to choose from. Plus the prices are very reasonable and there’s usually student discounts!
