Big Joy has been around for a long time! They have pretty good open hours, a nice selection of braiding hair and various lashes, shampoo and wig maintenance supplied and wigs. It's conveniently located right off the highway near Pluckers, and they have ample parking.
UPDATE: I was returning things that I bought from the store today, I was greeted by a young Mexican lady.She was nice and respectful, but she needed assistance with my return.She asked the older Mexican lady with piercings and tattoos for help, she refused and gave her back talk about helping her.The young lady just asked for assistance with my return and she just completely ignored her and got angry with her.Once again, that older lady with piercings and tattoos is disrespectful not only does she not care about customers but she’s rude to her coworkers as well.Management needs to get rid of her or put her in a different position.My second review about this store and I haven’t seen any improvement from the first review.Ive been shopping here for years, not only do I come here but I like to spend my money here.Management do better !
I was recently in there purchasing some gel and scarfs around 2pm.The young black lady at the counter greeted me while the lady with the piercings was on her phone at the counter.I always shop at Big Joys but recently that lady with the piercings been there not engaging with customers.
I honestly have never had a bad experience in the store and the staff has always been extremely helpful. However, today I went in to ask for help, and the woman with the piercing braids and short was really unhelpful. She didn’t want to help me at all. From the fist question, I recieved a lot of attitude about my questions and she just pointed to the back and said it’s all back there. I asked about braiding gel and she pointed at the gel shelf. That was it. I would have left except I found a really lovely customer that was willing to help me and she REALLY helped me! We went to check out at the same time and she mentioned that the same staff member who was rude to me was extremely rude even though I had not mentioned her during our conversation. At that point, that staff member walked behind the counter for the very first time during our experience there to let the customer that I was speaking to say “you know I can hear you?” At which the customer who actually acted as a representative for your store said, yes, you have been rude and don’t seem to like your job. The staff member began arguing with the customer that helped me as she was buying from your store. That’s when I mentioned she had been rude to me as well. The woman just kept arguing about how she can do what she wants at her job. I found it completely unprofessional. The customer was there buying products and gave the impression that she was a regular customer of yours. The staff member gave the impression she knew she was a regular customer, but did not know me as a regular customer because I had never seen her. I was there and spent $62 but had budgeted to spend 200$ at your store today. I did not. The only reason I spent ANY amount of money is because the customer helped me out so much. I have spent thousands of dollars in your store over the years. This experience came as quite a shock to me. The staff members have always been very helpful. It’s really unfortunate because the woman who was a customer who helped me, probably would have spent more money as well if she had not been greated with so much attitude. But the arguing at the end was wild. She did not seem to want to be at her job at all.
The staff are very nice. The store is very big and has a lot of selection, but the aisles are too close together. It's hard to see the wigs that are against the wall very good because they are not close enough. Many of the items are repetitive, they will have the same items in different areas. One thing I would like is if they had more stylish hair accessories and not so many hairbows for little girls. It's still a nice store with a good variety of wigs. I would recommend it.
