Lots of physical media available, both American and Japanese. Prices were very reasonable especially for music discs that were clearly unopened. For those who connect anime figures, keychains, and so on, there were many options to go through from many different series. As someone from the mainland, this is the kind of shop that we need over here.
Friendly service and a great variety. You won't just find mainstream anime, manga, games and figures there. It's a lovely assortment of less popular, but still good, works as well; along with a few other niche items from Asian culture. All in all I do plan to visit again. Only gets a 4 out of 5 for two reasons. One, the parking lot is atrocious. There's really only maybe 6 or 7 spots and the lot is situated in such a way that it is difficult to enter or leave; especially if other patrons are coming or going. The second reason would be that SOME, not all, items are over priced. Some items are definitely harder to get than others but the price of those items far exceed the convenience of owning immediately vs ordering online at a cheaper price. Again this was only with a handful of items.. Most are reasonably priced.
First few aisles is mostly manga stuff and figurines, but they do have a decent selection of second hand literature as well. Arranged by genre and then by author. Staff was nice.
Every time I visit BookOff at either Kaka’ako or inside Pearlridge Mall it is the same: a welcoming and helpful staff, awesome selection of used books, videos, collectibles and prices that make me wonder how they do it. Aside from finding multiple copies of a popular movie on multiple platforms at multiple (cheap!) prices, you can find rare items here as well. I collect movies, so speaking from that perspective I can say I have never left disappointed or empty-handed. Alternating between the stores is so much fun for a browser like me, but you can also talk to the helpful staff on the phone without even going there! But where’s the fun in that?
Decent selection of japanese items, anime, manga, english books and comics, figurines, plush, funko, games, game consoles and trading cards (pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, magic). Some items are priced favorably, other items are a bit pricey. A good place for people that want good quality second hand / used items. It doesn't compare to a bookoff in japan, but its not bad. I brought a Nintendo switch game that was reasonably priced and sold a couple books... Recently they installed a mystery pokemon card vending machine. For $1.00, i think, you have the chance to win a holo or better. Good luck!
