This is a great restaurant. Took the kids (students) for a nice lunch. Everything was excellent. The welcome was warm, sincere and professional. The waiting staff superb. Food didn’t come in order but tasted fantastic. Fresh, quality ingredients and perfectly made. The decor was also great. Calming and aesthetic. It was all really well designed. The price was very reasonable for the meal. I didn’t like the tip being automatically added to the bill but it came to what I’d have given anyway so didn’t say anything. I would definitely recommend Bosco in Cardiff. This place is excellent.
Bosco is exactly what you hope a new Italian will be: intimate, confident, and sumptuous. Dining at the bar feels perfectly curated: front-row to the pizza oven, the kitchen moving with effortless precision. It reminded me of stumbling into a Michelin-recommended restaurant by accident in London a few years ago. Service is fast but friendly and assured - impressive given a full house on an otherwise quiet Thursday night in Cardiff. The sophisticated simplicity of the ingredients proves the real skill behind their assembly. Bosco already feels lived-in and special. A very strong opening act.
I cannot say anything bad about my first experience at Bosco for their opening week. We were lucky enough to walk in without a booking and get a seat at the bar in front of the kitchen. I talked to the chef and the manger the whole time they were serving. It was amazing to see all the dishes come out. They were kind enough to fire up arancini for me that I forgot to order. Everything was so tasty. Although they were really busy, there was barely any wait for food. Very reasonably priced as well. I am a pizza addict. It was lovely. I have been back since but they were fully booked. I’ll definitely be going back in the new year. I’ll be trying some of their pasta dishes next time.
We tried this new Italian restaurant. It's very posh and elegant, with lovely decor. Unfortunately, there was a lack of Christmas atmosphere. The music was extremely loud and not Italian. It was like lounge music, and I couldn't even hear my wife next to me. Not an Italian atmosphere. We arrived early, so we had a couple of drinks at the bar. The cocktails were very good, and a big shout-out to the barman who accommodated my wife's request. She had a cosmopolitan that wasn't on the menu. My Bloody Mary was exceptional! We moved to our table, and I must say, the seating was very, very posh. We ordered our food and again, I must say, it was very, very good quality food. Unfortunately, we didn't find any good pasta options, so we opted for pizzas as our main. The starters were amazing, especially the Burrata, which was very high quality. Pizzas were okay, but less tasty than some competitors in Cardiff. As said before, we were disappointed about the pasta dish options. A restaurant with that decor and posh seatings requires better pasta options. For desserts, we had one tiramisu and one zeppola. The tiramisu was far from the original and had a weird texture. The zeppola was okay, but again, not original. Unfortunately, being Italians, we find it very hard to eat out in an Italian restaurant, and maybe my expectations were too high for this new restaurant. I won't give it another try unless they change the menu and play better background music because I ended my meal with a big headache!
Bosco is absolute perfection, and a really welcome addition to high street. If you're after beautiful decor, a vibey atmosphere, amazing high-end italian food, and a really personal service, this is a must visit! We visited twice on the opening weekend; first we were served by Dara, who was hilarious, made our first visit a lot of fun, and catered to my dad's GF allergy so perfectly; especially considering he was her first GF customer! The second was with friends for a birthday, where we were served by Joel, who was brilliant, personable and really welcoming to my group of friends. Waiting staff like this make it the type of restaurant where you can sit back, relax, and not have to think about anything other than what else to order! Sam runs a tight ship with a fantastic team - it will be a huge success and we will be back very soon! ❤️🍕
