We visited this restaurant for a family dinner with three young children and ordered a well-done steak. We waited for an hour before our steak arrived, while other guests who came in after us were served earlier. When we politely asked the staff about the delay, one employee responded rudely, saying, “Look at how many orders we have; you all ordered at the same time.” When my steak finally arrived, it was not well done and still had blood. I asked for it to be cooked more, but even the second time it was still undercooked. The manager then approached and argued with me rudely in front of the entire restaurant. I specifically chose this place because of its reputation as the best steakhouse on the Gold Coast, but it seems this reputation manager himself trying to make by replying “ we believe we are the best”. I expected no problem getting a well-done steak. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The manager’s rude and arrogant behavior was unacceptable. Customers come here to enjoy good food and pay for quality service, but instead, I witnessed constant defensiveness and disrespect from management, even in response to reviews. After waiting a total of 1.5 hours, I returned my steak and left hungry without any offer of a discount or apology. This is not the best steakhouse, and you can find much better options elsewhere. Also, you can see how many people not happy and response from the manager and it tells a lot. A respectful and reputable steak house would never argue with a customer in front of everyone, it’s all simple, we are paying for what we came for, and if you make customers waiting long time and not making it right at least apologise and offer some free desert or discount. Not recommending if u are seeking a good steak and service. Also I’ve read below they cook steak in microwave.
Top-tier service, steak and atmosphere. We ordered the Rib eye, Gnocchi and signature cocktails. Everything was incredible 10/10. Ribeye with Garlic prawn topper pictured.
I’ve been to Cavills Steakhouse in Runaway Bay a couple of times now and I have never been disappointed. Every visit has been consistently excellent, and my most recent experience was no exception. We started with the lychee cocktails which were absolutely delicious. Soon after, we were served beautiful fresh bread straight out of the oven with butter. Simple, but so good. We both ordered the rib fillet steaks cooked medium rare, which came with a baked potato and coleslaw. Everything on the plate was cooked to perfection. The steak was tender and spot on medium rare, the baked potato had incredible flavour, and the coleslaw was fresh and delicious. We also ordered sides of roasted beetroot and steamed zucchini which complemented the meal really well. We sat upstairs on level one which is the standard seating area. It can get a bit noisy when the restaurant is full, but it wasn’t too bad on this occasion. The service was impeccable. Staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. Overall, Cavills continues to deliver a top quality dining experience and I’ll definitely be returning on a regular basis.
We absolutely loved our feed and will definitely be returning. Great atmosphere, acoustics, wait staff (Leesa), and of course the food was amazing. Can’t believe we are locals and haven’t tried Cavs before, not ever. We will be returning to try out the rest of the menu but what we had was delish. Fish tacos, lamb cutlets, rump, eye fillet and desserts. Thanks for the great service and friendly smile Leesa. You made our night!
We recently visited this restaurant on Thursday night after celebrating getting married last weekend. We were both craving a steak and this place did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived, the service from all staff was remarkable and we were offered drinks right away. Shortly after ordering, we were bought fresh bread to our table which was a lovely accompaniment. All of our meals were amazing - fresh ingredients and cooked to absolute perfection. We couldn’t fault this incredible place and will definitely go back when we are at the coast next!
