I had a friend in town & I had to take her to S. Congress, I'd never been here. The food was good I went vegetarian that night so I had the nopales in rajas meles it was very flavorlful & full filing, I couldn't finish it all! & I'm no skinny Minnie here anyway loved the atmosphere ,inside the restaurant is like a work of art! Very impressive & fun to experience.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ From the warm welcome to the incredible menu — so many items fresh, handmade, from the tortas to the multiple moles — every detail at Chapulin Cantina impressed me. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were rich and beautifully balanced. I had a lovely meal outside on the patio with a light breeze and lively street energy that wasn’t overly noisy. A special shoutout to Liz, who clearly takes pride in the food and offered wonderful recommendations. It was hard to choose just one thing, so I’ll simply have to come back and try more! Bonus: FREE parking in the back 🚙
One of my favorite spots, I continue to be blown away every time I come back and try something new. Was here to celebrate an anniversary and Liz made sure we were so well taken care of, shr threw in a delicious slice of tres leches cake for us and just made the night so special. Truly recommend this South Congress staple
Found this place on a day trip in Austin, my husband and father are from Oaxaca so everyone was excited to eat here. The food was absolutely delicious! The portions are true to Mexican heritage i have to say. Everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned so well. I would love to come back next time I'm in town. The service was also great! Everyone was extremely cheerful and happy to help. Our waiter checked on us constantly and left an awesome impression with us. I recommend this place to anyone who has tried Oaxacn food and anyone who is looking to try, you will love it!
The food is amazing! I was surprised when I ordered the torta with chicken how massive it was. The taste of flavor was massively delicious! The service here was up to par and they were attentive to us for a group of 10. Ambience is the south Congress style and pricing is a bit expensive but you are getting your money’s worth here. Parking is not easy especially now that the city of Austin charges every street in downtown for parking. This place is definitely worth the visit if you’re thinking about trying it out.
