I reached out to George Dimov based on a personal recommendation and was extremely disappointed. I was very clear with them that we were looking for a firm that could provide tax services in the US and Portugal. My first interaction was with a support agent (that’s ok) who collected some details. I was then put in touch with another agent that asked all the same questions. Based on the feedback I provided they suggested two services: a 1 hour meeting with a professional services agent that could answer questions about the move and tax services. My wife and I met with their professional services agent and it was disappointing. I had sent over a series of questions before the call and an outline of our concerns. We were looking for someone who could speak as an authority on the questions and we got very weak answers. He couldn’t commit to the right action and a lot of the tax advice he was giving around questions I had around an LLC seemed suspect (deducting family travel for checking on a rental property). It felt like I was talking to someone that searched for answers on TikTok and ChatGPT. I was clear from the beginning that we wanted someone to handle taxes in both Portugal and the USA, and during the call the agent said he’d need to check if they had someone. Directly after the call they followed up 3 times on the same day about payment and never followed up with any of our questions they had said they would follow up on. In hindsight, I shouldn’t have paid until my concerns were addressed. I’m not sure what happened, this feels either like a scam where they outsource their professional services or they are a firm that is only interested in selling overpriced consulting services. Either way, I would stay clear.

EDIT TO ADD: The day before taxes were due, I reached out to another cpa that redid my entire tax return within a few hours. By doing so, he determined they had added an extra $147,000 that was already taken care of through my individual return earlier in the year. I went from being told I owed an extra $28,000 on top of the $35,000 estimated taxes I had already paid to actually getting a HUGE refund. I’m not sure if this was due to a lack of care and knowledge on their end or if they had ulterior motives, but I was in shock after hearing this. I’d steer very clear. My experience with Dimov Tax Services has been frustrating and disappointing. Despite all the glowing reviews (many of which now seem suspicious or possibly incentivized), I found them to be completely unhelpful and disorganized. I filed for a tax extension in May 2024 and I didn’t hear back from them for nearly six months. Then, just three days before the October deadline, they informed me that I owed nearly $30,000, a huge surprise considering I’d already been paying quarterly taxes as a self-employed individual. The issue isn’t the amount I owe, it’s the complete lack of communication and planning. Had they been in touch earlier, I could’ve budgeted and set aside funds appropriately. But now, I’m scrambling last-minute and at risk of penalties because of their delay, not mine. Every email I’ve received has come from a different person, making it impossible to establish any kind of continuity or trust. There seems to be no internal coordination or accountability. Also concerning, I’ve seen multiple reviews alleging that the company offers free services in exchange for removing negative feedback. If true, this raises serious ethical red flags. I would not trust Dimov with your taxes. Poor communication, last-minute scrambling, and a lack of professionalism make them a liability and not a service. I also feel slightly targeted as I am a young girl who may not have the best knowledge regarding taxes, hence why I was seeking their help.
I'm thrilled with the returns / service we received from Dimov Partners. I was in a bit of a tight spot as I was behind on switching from a previous tax preparer who was charging an arm & a leg, and Dimov made the process incredibly smooth.
