Of the 4 climbing gyms I've checked out in Seattle thus far (Momentum SODO, SBP Poplar, Vertical World, Edgeworks Ballard), Edgeworks has been my favorite. I haven't had the chance to rope up here yet so I can't comment on that, but the boulder setting here is EXCELLENT- more thoughtful setting that focuses on technique and skill. Plenty of fun VB-V4s, and lots of V5 (and up) problems are legit. Plus they've got cracks!!! Try their crack challenge, it's absolutely heinous. It's definitely an old-school climbing gym (which are the BEST anyway) so it's not super flashy and fancy, including the gym/weights area, so if you're looking for that, best check out SBP. Kilter and Moon board upstairs, plus a cave area. Their store also carries way more climbing gear than I've seen at other gyms, including hardware and soft goods. Very friendly staff. Love this climbing gym!
My favorite climbing gym in Seattle! It's best for bouldering but they have a decent-sized rope area as well. There's also a small weight room with some weights and a few machines.
Within the three edgeworks I have gone to (bellevue, belred, here!), this is my favorite gym. There are lots of choices like bouldering, top rope, outside wall, and a sideways top rope…? OH AND THE TOP ROPE IS ALSO ON THE CEILING LIKE THATS SO COOL NEVER TRIED IT YET CUZ ITS LEAD!!!!!! THERES LIKE NO PEOPLE USUALLY NEVER CROWDED and so it is the best climbing gym I have gone to (its like weirdly cozy?? Feels like home lol) Also has a fitness area that’s super nice. Pretty small though
Stopped here for a climbing session. This is my first time at this branch hence all the problems were new. I climb at the V3-V5 range so worked on a bunch of problems. The problems were pretty good and the staff was super nice and helpful. Did not check their gym so cannot say but they don't have much slabs. Not a big fan of slabs but sharing information.
The group I visited this climbing gym with unanimously agreed that it has sub-average route design. I had a decent time and the rope climbing is clearly the highlight here, but between the bad routes and generally worn down atmosphere of the place, it's undoubtedly my least favorite climbing gym in the greater Seattle area. There are also many routes that are unmarked and randomly end halfway up the wall without any final hold labeling. I get the impression at this place is poorly managed.
