We got the crème brûlée cupcake, savory focaccia, and the chicken rice soup. the pastries are not served warm, and the soup was way too salty. but the atmosphere was so nice. there’s also a cafe attached to the building. very cute!

Service great, Atmosphere Great. Reasonable priced. And they have borsct. That i will tell you is amazing. I also had an apple scones. I will just say the apple scones was disappointing. I also had a salted caramel tart. Wow. Ok so this tart was perfect. I am glad I only got one. Geeze. Ok so I also tried thier bread. And 1000% is great. No lie. This place needs more business. This is truly one of the best pure bakery cafes in Anchorage if not any place. Literally was not expecting the food to be this good. And to have borscht? Wow. The borscht was spicy too. This is now my now go to place. Oh the coffee. The coffee was just ok. I had a mocha. It was more coffee than mocha. Overall, I will be back trying more new things, oh and always a tart to go haha. Plenty of seating, fast service. Parking on sides of street. Cheers. And thank you for a great experience.

Excellent choice when having pastry and bread cravings. Dec 19,2025: Stollen bread - from the gods! Picked up the family size stollen as a Christmas week treat ... I have eaten 1/4 of the loaf within hourse of getting home; it is that good. The spices are well balanced, perfectly blended through the bread. The dried fruits are integrated well throughout, and not so much fruit that it feels like a fruit bread. The stollen is perfection! Also picked up a small chocolate cake - still the best! Nov 9, 2025: New tasting for this trip. The ham and cheese croissant is excellent - a must try savorycroissant. Flaky, buttery, and the perfect amount of ham and cheese. The usually (Chocolate Shortbread, Pecan Brownie, Alaskan Scone) were excellent as always. The Carrot cake 4", and the Orange & Rosemary polenta cake 4" were a miss. The carrot cake's spices were more reminiscent of Christmas fruit cake than carrot cake, lacking the expected warming spice experience. There were hints of orange as well, almost a high note and mid note flavor. Lots of cream cheese icing in the middle, too much for the amount of cake (personal preference). The bake was off - dry. The Orange & Rosemary cake faired slightly better. The orange would hit at first, then the rosemary would take over and lingered on the palate much longer. After a few bites, the rosemary tended to dominate. The texture was very moist and did not have the delicate crumb of other polenta cakes I previously had from here. Sept 26, 2025: , Update: The brownie is a must have if you are pairing it with coffee. It is very good solo, but really shines when complemented with coffee. This pairing will heightene thebflavor experience; surprising hints of saltiness that give way to cocoa complexities of nuttiness and fruits. It is dense, and baked to the perfect interior soft smoothness - it melts in your mouth with a sip of warm coffee. Original: The bread is exceptional (rustic cob a favorite). The bread had a well-developed crumb structure, lots of differentiation of air pockets and a tender texture. It is excellent plain, toasted, and would recommend pairing with a high quality jam. The pastries are very good. The stand out was the AK blueberry scone - exceptional - potentially the best scone I have ever had! The exterior had a good bake, some crunch and then the inside was soft, moist and absolutely perfect. Paired beautifully with an americano. This is a must have. Another exceptional item is the blueberry and chamomile cake. The blueberry and chamomile flavors are well balanced. The cake itself has an excellent crumb, great flavourful. The icing is just enough, supporting the natural flavors without becoming overwhelming. Chocolate chip cookies are the puffy version (i.e. baking soda or powder rising agent). The croissants are very good with a light flaky crust and a soft, pull inside. Today's lacked the usually buttery-ness that I enjoy; they were great with jam. The texture worked better with the chocolate croissant.

Ever since I discovered it, I've never come to Anchorage without visiting Fire Island Bakery. I've always gone to the K Street location though. I finally found myself at this location one morning, and the assortment was pretty similar. It's a similar type of environment too, with a decent amount of sitting space, a few outlets, and a great coffee shop next door. I don't think there's WiFi, so it's not a space to go work. I can rant about Fire Island all day. Pastries (sweet and savory), bread loaves, sandwiches (breakfast and lunch), soups.. everything I've had has been excellent. Do yourself a favor and hop on the bandwagon!

Some of the best pastries we have had! The avocado egg sandwich tasted great as well. The scones and muffins are so well done - Soft on the inside and great crust. They weren't too sweet or covered with sugar either. We grabbed a lot of these to enjoy on our drive and they all tasted great even later in the day!
