2nd time getting my haircut from Gigi and both times have been stellar. She’s amazing at what she does and so sweet to talk to! Walked out loving my hair both times. Lovely hospitality at the salon too.
Minah for color, Sadie for cuts. They have never let me down. I get compliments even 3 months out. I see and hear horror stories frequently living in the western burbs. Haus on Nicollet is 23 minutes drive from most of the metro just go see Minah or Sadie.
I’ve had my hair cut multiple times and colored 3x at this salon. The haircuts have been fine, but you can absolutely find equally talented stylists for under $100, even in that $60-$70 range. I have mostly straight, fine hair. I was unhappy with my hair coloring experiences. The first colorist I did a consultation with and had color her hair. It soon became clear during the process she did not listen to or remember what I wanted, and in retrospect was clearly in over her head but didn’t go to talk someone who was more experienced—I was so upset with the end result that I spoke to the salon and they paired me with one of the colorists/educators to fix it. (Good customer service there!) I saw this second colorist for the fix, and one more time. But I still I felt like I wasn’t being listened to or understood. I felt forced to pick a reference photo despite me not having a specific one I was aiming for and asking to talk it through instead. And then whenever I tried to explain what I wanted (a solid blonde, nothing crazy, but not balayage), and what I didn’t like, that was both compared to the photo (“that’s not what she has”—again, I didn’t even want to pick a photo because there wasn’t one I wanted to copy exactly) and advised against basically because it wasn’t what the colorist likes to do. (“I like to do lived-in looks,” “You’ll look like you’ve just left a salon.”) These were my first professional hair color experiences and I left unhappy but also wanting if it was somehow my fault. I most recently went to a different salon based on someone’s recommendation, had a great color consultation with someone who totally listened and understood what I was looking for really easily, and we ended up having a really great appointment and I finally got color I loved. I clearly wasn’t the right match for the Haus colorist, but for their price point I should at minimum feel like I’m being listened to when I explain what I want and don’t want—and not end up with what I don’t want just because the colorist likes to do “lived in” balayage and I was asking for something else. I kept thinking it costs more than many other local salons, so it most be better, but that’s not the case with Haus.
Gotta give credit where’s it’s due. I moved to Minnesota over two years ago and finally found this salon through a coworker. I had the chance to see stylist Kristen, and she’s fantastic. I have thick, curly/wavy hair that tends to get frizzy in the Minnesota humidity, but she really knew how to work with my texture and gave me exactly the cut I was hoping for. She’s seriously skilled. I left feeling more confident than I expected — it was a great reminder of how much the right haircut can make a difference 💖
I have seen Beth for several haircuts and she is fantastic! I appreciate the attention to the consult at the beginning and working together to create a plan. Great service overall, super friendly and easy to chat with, great blowout and styling at the end. Definitely on the higher end of my price range but totally worth it as I have had many cheap and bad haircuts at other places in the past! The salon is also very cute and has a really cool art installation by a local artist.
