Went to a concert there tonight and everyone had such a great vibe!...The ticket seller, the security staff, and bartenders. The good energy made being there such a great experience! Surprisingly, it was my first time there after a decade of being in Austin. I gotta see who else is playing there soon! I appreciate that ya'll set a great tone! Cheers!
An Austin local here since 2008. I've been to a lot of venues around town but tonight was the first time at the Scoot Inn to see The Wombats with my daughter. We got inside the venue at 6:30pm and the headliner was already into their second song. The venue staff told me that the venue has a curfew of 8pm on weeknights and 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays. It would have been nice if the curfew hours were posted publicly. I saw many people walk in past 7pm. We even met a couple at 8:15pm outside the venue. They were too late. The venue is smack right in the middle of a neighborhood so I get the curfew hours. But Scoot Inn needs to let their not-so-frequent patrons know about it explicitly. Having said that, its a fantastic venues. The Wombats sounded awesome!
The security experience at this venue was extremely disappointing. I brought a clear bag containing a prescription bottle clearly labeled with my name, which matched my ID. Despite this, I was sent to another security staff member who appeared untrained and unqualified to verify the medication. She struggled to read the pill code and couldn’t locate it on her phone. To be clear, there is no policy listed on the venue’s website regarding bringing prescription medication inside. When I asked about this not being on their website as a policy the employee response was THEY DONT HAVE to I believe this man’s name was Quinn. I’ve traveled with the same bottle through airport security without issue, yet this venue made it unnecessarily difficult. I even had to help the staff identify the pill code myself before she finally acknowledged it matched the prescription bottle. The process was chaotic and disorganized, causing me—and many others—to miss the opening artist we paid to see. The manager I spoke with was polite but ultimately did nothing to resolve the issue. This level of disorganization and lack of proper staff training is unacceptable. If you plan on going to a show here you better arrive 3 hours before. The line was wrapped around the build do to their terrible check in process. People were so upset to miss the opening artist they paid money to see. I won’t be returning, and I’ll be advising friends to avoid this venue as well. Do better.
Great outdoor venue east of 35. Parking is the major downside. I parked in the Foundry underground lot about 1.5 blocks away. Easy, covered, cameraed. Sound was awesome, especially the vocals. Staff was Austin friendly. Catch a show here when you have a chance. Enjoy
Love the venue. A little remodel on the inside since the last time I was there. Awesome lounge vibe inside. The stage outside is still great. A nice cleaned up area outback. The stage is set in the corner to maximize the area for the crowd and visuals of the stage. Cool upper seating area. Great sound. Was happy to return here and see a great show.
