Went in on a Saturday night and the bartenders are great. Regina takes care of her customers and is full of personality 😁. Harrison is super friendly too! Drinks are cheap and the bar has a friendly vibe.
Was in there on NYE and the bartender, Regina was top notch! So friendly and fun and sarcastic and made the best drinks!!! We love her!!!!
Lakes Lanes is a true old-school bowling alley — nothing fancy, just great vibes, great people, and the sound of pins crashing. The staff are top-notch: friendly, quick to help, and they make everyone feel like a regular. The league bowlers are serious competitors but super welcoming — competitive without being intimidating. The place has that nostalgic, classic feel — wood lanes, neon signs, bar food that actually hits the spot, and a laid-back crowd that loves to bowl. It’s clean where it counts, the lanes are well maintained, and the prices are fair. If you’re looking for a flashy modern bowling lounge, this isn’t it — but if you love genuine atmosphere, friendly folks, and real bowling culture, Lakes Lanes in The Colony is the place.
Fourth of July Weekend at Its Finest — Texas Did Not Disappoint With a 4.1-star rating, this little gem more than lived up to the hype. Sure, there were a few minor cons, but the pros far outweighed them. Pulling into the small shopping mall, we lucked out with close parking. Excitement buzzed in the air. The moment we stepped inside, I was transported straight back to my youth — the scent of lane oil, fresh cigarette smoke in the air, and good old greasy food. Pure nostalgia. As we made our way down the alley toward what was called “the command center,” we were acknowledged by the two gentlemen who were behind the counter. Both helped us get our shoes and assign us a lane. One of them, wearing ear protection, pointed us toward lane 9. The five of us made our way up the stairs — covered in old office carpet and duct tape — to our designated lane 9. The lights illuminated as we got settled. Time to shine! The place was a time capsule of the late 90s all the way to the early 2000s. Cracked tiles and all. The vibe was just right. The console was dated but easy to use, and there were already bowling balls waiting for us. However, my 3-year-old, who had been practicing his bowling at the hotel the entire trip, was ready to go — but no child's 6 pounder insight - the lightest ball we could find was a 8-pounder. It would have to do. With shoes on, ramp set up, and ball in hand, he was off — two full hours of bowling ahead. Frame after frame, he worked on his alignment and celebrated every throw. The bumpers (which stayed up for everyone) definitely helped fuel his little bowling dream. One hour down, one to go — one pitcher of Coors Light finished, another on deck. The crisp taste, with that familiar Colorado water, brought a little taste of home. Oddly refreshing amid the lively chaos. My oldest son (25) returned with the final pitcher and shared how kind and welcoming the bar staff were. Even the patrons at the bar added to the friendly vibe. The easygoing banter was a surprise and a welcomed. Didn't think Texas was so welcoming but this little gem proved me wrong. I made a quick trip to the ladies’ room — clean, though a bit rough around the edges. White walls, heavy metal doors, and a cobweb in the stall gave it a gritty charm. Still, there was toilet paper, the toilet flushed, and the water ran hot (a rare luxury in most places I’ve been). Soap was stocked. Mission complete. Back at lane 9, the crowd had grown all around us. This place was alive — packed, buzzing, and jamming early 2000s hits uncensored over four hanging speakers. It was hard not to fall in love with the whole experience. The last hour flew by. And just like that, the lights on our lane went dark, snapping me out of my nostalgia-filled daydream. My 3-year-old, who had been vibrating with excitement all day, was now worn out and ready to head back to the hotel. Bowling was a success. Mission accomplished. It was affordable and fun. Definitely worth another visit.
Time machines must be real because this felt like we were in 1999, in a good way. The machines are super old and retro, but work perfectly fine and fast. I liked the old graphics on the screen when scoring. The place does smell like smoke with smoking allowed inside, but not too bad on the lanes. The beer was a little on the flatter side, but the nachos were good. Definitely will go back. My biggest critique is I wish they would have dimmed some of the lights, it was super bright in there!
