The piano classes themselves are good, and the teacher is very professional, knowledgeable, and supportive. I initially attended a free trial class, which ended up being a one-to-one lesson only because no other students showed up. The class was originally meant to be a group lesson. I received the full one-hour class as agreed, and the experience encouraged me to purchase a 5-class package. However, after enrolling, my experience became disappointing due to poor organisation and unclear communication. Even though the course had already started, the school continued offering free trial classes up to lesson 4. This meant that during classes 2 to 4 we repeatedly had to go back to lesson 1 to accommodate new trial students. I understand allowing free trials in the first or maybe second class, but continuing until the fourth class felt excessive and disruptive. Most of those trial students did not continue, which affected the progress of paying students. In my fifth class (today), I was the only student attending. I expected to receive the usual one-hour lesson, but I was only given 30 minutes, and the class felt rushed. When I raised this with reception, I was told that when only one student attends a group class, the lesson is reduced to 30 minutes. This policy had never been communicated to me. The receptionist showed me a document claiming this information was included, but the document only mentioned what happens if a student misses a class. There was no mention of reduced class time when only one student attends. This lack of transparency and clear communication felt unprofessional. Overall, the teaching quality is good, but the administration, communication, and course structure need significant improvement.
Avoid that teacher named Shane at all cost. Really unprofessional, talk you down and unenjoyable lesson overall. Update: I asked for a full refund and the school processed it immediately, no questions asked. Really appreciate it, just my bad luck assigned to a crazy teacher.
Our 6-year-old daughter Sienna has absolutely thrived under Riwa’s guidance. Riwa is a passionate and strict teacher who brought out the best out of Sienna through her structured approach. While she holds high standards for all students (and doesn’t miss a note!), her and the founder Yichao also nurtures a genuine lifelong love of music — not just a focus on passing music exams. In just a short time, Sienna has made incredible progress in both skill and confidence. We feel very lucky to have been recommended MPI and Riwa from a friend and can’t recommend the lessons at MPI highly enough! 🎹✨ 🙏
Booking is so easy, staffs are very responsive and friendly. I had trouble on attending booking time due to massive delay from previous session, but the staff member was understanding and supportive. My child had a quick 15 min warm up at Master piano prior to his Sydney Eisteddfod and he was awarded a prize. Hope you don't mind us comming back next year. I will keep my booking time properly next year! Thank you!!!
Master Piano is the place where they nurture the kids to realise their musical dreams. I always felt my daughter luckiest to study here. All the teachers here are encouraging and passionate about music/instruments. The school also had amazing aural classes as well as popular music salons for performing. Yearly concerts are well organized and it’s the place for the kids to shine. My kids loved the school. Going to master piano is what they are looking forward to do during the weekend. I liked the teachers saying every child will be able to find their musical dreams if we were there to help them. That’s exactly my daughter felt. Thanks for all the help !
