This was my first time golfing at Memorial Golf Course, and it definitely lives up to its reputation as one of Houston’s most popular courses. Booking a tee time can be challenging due to high demand. You have options to book either two weeks out or 3 days in advance, but availability is very limited. I booked on a Sunday for a Thursday round and was only able to secure a single tee time at 3:10 PM—everything else was already fully booked. I played with my father-in-law, who is an avid golfer visiting from the Philippines. As a Houston resident within the 610 Loop, I qualified for the resident rate, which was an excellent value. Twilight was $21 for 18 holes (they don’t offer 9-hole rounds). For comparison, the non-resident senior twilight rate was $80. We also rented a gold cart for $21. We were paired with two other golfers who were very friendly, and used push carts. I highly recommend walking the course or renting a push cart instead of a golf cart. Golf carts are restricted to the cart path only, and if your ball lands on the opposite side, it can be inconvenient. Walking felt easier and more enjoyable overall. The course conditions were outstanding—easily the best-maintained course I’ve ever played. The greens, fairways, and rough all immaculate. I actually played one of my best rounds here. I’m not a pro golfer—more of an occasional player, maybe playing three or four times a year—but the course felt very professional-level. We were able to play to the 11th hole before it got too dark around 530pm. That said, many of the golfers here are low-handicap players, so pace of play is important. Beginners or novice golfers should be aware that it can feel a bit fast-paced and intimidating at times. As long as you’re mindful and keep things moving, it’s a great experience. Overall, I had a very positive experience. While it can be pricey for non-residents, the resident pricing is an incredible value for a course of this quality. The course was being prepared for the PGA Tour in March, which may explain the exceptional conditions, but I’ve heard it’s well maintained year-round—and based on my experience, I believe that’s true. Highly recommend playing here if you get the chance. To get the resistance rate you do need to be houston city resident (Katy, sugarland etc doesn’t count). They do verify your ID.
Great short game area, would be nice to have a bunker but understand why it’s closed. Driving range is generally good, yet very busy, mats are a bit tired and wish they didn’t have flight restricted balls.
Immaculately maintained track. While it’s not the most scenic of PGA Tour stops, it has enough bite to it so that it’s a challenge. Course was in great shape when I played in August. I also got all kinds of weather so be prepared. It went from 95 and muggy on the front to perfect - cloudy w a nice breeze - for a few holes on the back and then darkening clouds with 2-3 club winds and finally sideways rain by the end! All in all I felt like the out of town rate was well worth it to play a track that’s on the tour.
Didn’t play a round, just practiced and used the driving range, but wow, what an amazing course, especially for a public one. Super well-maintained, great facilities, and totally worth visiting. Will definitely come back to play a full round soon!
What a beautiful track! Immaculate conditions. Price $120 (+ a hidden 20 dollar online booking fee) so really $140 for a municipal seems a little steep, but it is a PGA stop so considering that I guess its a fair price. Felt the pro shop staff was a little less than friendly. Par 3s are WOW inducing, really pretty holes. Fairways are mostly generous and the danger is concentrated at the greens, which rolled immaculately. 16 & 17 pack a punch with their lurking water hazards running besides the fairways. 18 seems like a easy finish to the goal line but the wind was no joke, made a long par 4 feel like a par 5. Would love to play there again in the summer.
