Books! Lots of them. And they've got the right ones. No James Patterson here. No romance here. But they've got fiction, and poetry, Literary criticism, a nice film section, art, philosophy, history. You know, all the essentials. They have book and music events and a floor and a ceiling and nice knowledgable people that work there.
Beautiful store. I recommend everyone stop in browse politely and make a purchase monthly. Reading is so vital and important for mental health especially.
This bookstore was absolutely amazing. If you are looking for old, rare, beautiful finds, this is definitely the place. We came in looking to treat my brother with some of his favorite things for his birthday. Staff was super friendly and the ambiance is FANTASTIC. There is even a cute outdoor area with tables in the back of the building, they have fresh water for customers and you can even order coffee! We brought our children and they loved the old book smell and collectible type-writers. The man who priced our books was so polite and he even quoted some of the poetry from the book we were hoping to purchase. We got an amazing deal and my brother is elated!
This should be my favorite bookstore ever - all my friends love it…they are quite literally NEVER open when I arrive. Even though I always show up during opening hours. It’s starting to drive me crazy. This is attempt 3 to visit and I’m always met by those iron gates - even though they don’t close for another hour! Please, if you work here - can you please explain why this keeps happening? It’s so frustrating that I keep paying for parking for absolutely no reason.
The cutest bookstore ever. Has a very nice selection of philosophy and fictional books. The owner and his friend are amazing people to talk to. Highly recommend this place on your visit to Portland!
