I cannot say enough positive things about this Mountainside Fitness location. After a terrible experience at Mountainside's "fancy" FLW location, I almost canceled. But this location kept me as a customer, and here's why: The head of training at this location is easy to communicate with, and he's actually present to talk to. He set me up with a trainer that would fit my goals. My trainer, Luna. She is the best trainer I've ever worked with. In just a few weeks I'm actually seeing results, and she pays attention during our sessions. She is professional, knowledgeable, and when I go in she has all three of my sessions for the week planned out (obv we can adjust, but I like how organized she is). I look forward to sessions, and really feel like I'm getting my money's worth. People who go to this location are clearly there to get their workout in. No social influencers parading around, no one videoing constantly, no weird people watching you workout (all of which were a thing at FLW). Staff greets you at the door, and are friendly/available to answer questions. Thank you to Tyler at corporate for suggesting this location, and thank you to the staff for making me look forward to gym time again.
Yowza! I’m new to this area and was excited to check out this facility. I called first and spoke to Zach! What a true professional that took the time to check my eligibility and guided me through my first steps on membership! Such a great reflection of this establishment! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars for Zach! I already love this place! Ok day one and I met another amazing staff member also named Zach! Great start! So knowledgeable with personal training! I am exceptionally glad I chose this gym! The friendliness and knowledge from both Zach staff is off the charts!!
This is by far the best gym I have been as a former employee and trainer for 4 years at your competitor Lifetime Fitness the gym and vibes hit different. From the clean locker rooms to the quiet gym and views of the ice den it’s fantastic. I really want to come back and update this to a 5 starts but the only thing that has been disappointing in the last 6 weeks I have had my membership is the men’s steam room not working I would say 1/3 of my visits and I come in 5 days a week.
Jill Young is such a great asset to Mountainside Fitness. She makes working out fun! The gym is always clean! She knows all the members by name and makes you feel special! She ensures that you have the best instructors in each class and personal trainers to meet your needs. She truly cares about each member, takes time to listen to them and gives you helpful information about the training classes so you can choose what you want! Jill makes Mountainside Fitness a great, fulfilling and Fun place to truly enjoy your workout! People go there because of her!!! This is the best gym in Arizona because of her efforts!
Let me first start by saying that I never write reviews, but my repeated negative experiences at this gym in Scottsdale have left me with no choice. It's not just the poor service, but a consistent pattern that makes me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, to the point where I can’t help but feel that the way I’ve been treated has something to do with the color of my skin. My first negative experience occurred two years ago when I visited Scottsdale to see my mother. I came to the gym and requested a 3-day guest pass. No issues, I was given the pass and used it without any problems for the first two days. On the third day, I walked in with another customer, and there was no one at the front desk. Both of us walked in without checking in (the other customer didn’t scan his card). As soon as I passed the desk, the employee stopped me and asked for my ID. I showed him my guest pass, but when he saw it, he insisted that I couldn’t use it because I wasn’t from the area. I explained that the first two customer service reps didn’t have any issue with it, but he refused to listen and told me I either had to pay or leave. I left feeling humiliated and unfairly treated. Fast forward to today, when I returned to this gym (unfortunately, because it was the closest one). I had purchased a 5-day pass from another location due to my previous bad experience here, but the inconvenience of location led me back. I presented the pass to Evan, the customer service rep, and from the moment I walked up, he didn’t even acknowledge me with a simple greeting. Instead, he just stared at the pass and asked where I got it from. When I couldn’t recall the exact name of the location (since I’m not from here), he made a snide remark, “You can’t remember where you got it?”. He reluctantly processed my information without so much as a “hello” or “have a nice day,” unlike the friendly interactions I saw him have with other customers. These repeated experiences leave me wondering if my race is influencing the way I’m treated at this gym. The lack of basic courtesy, the tone of the interactions, and the sense of discomfort I’ve felt every time I’ve visited make it clear to me that I won’t be returning. It’s unfortunate because I live only a mile away, but the way I’ve been treated here is simply unacceptable. This gym’s employees could really benefit from cultural sensitivity training. It’s disappointing to feel like I’m being treated differently based on how I look, and I sincerely hope that management addresses this issue. Until then, I will take my business elsewhere.
