Great bookstore, one I like to frequent often. They have great fantasy, mystery, horror, and young adult book selections. As well as stickers and other book related items. They host many authors which means they usually have signed copies of books which is amazing. The staff is always super friendly, and give great recommendations. The bookstore shares a parking lot with the other stores in the plaza. Depending on the time it can be difficult to get in and out of the parking lot but definitely worth the trouble if you visit during a busy time. Definitely recommend for book lovers in San Diego.
HAPPY PLACE! Clean, bright, chill. Great selection, but obviously specialized in mystery, fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and some others. Nice kids' corner, great finds, signed editions, reader merch, blind book dates. Plus kind, nice, knowledgeable staff, events, game nights, author readings, Comic Con insights, ... what more could one ask? Yes, it's an acutal store where people buy actual books, so some may be out and coming in again. And some you may have to order. But that's just one more reason to come back!
As a thriller and romance author, I love visiting Mysterious Galaxy Books. The first time I ever came here was for a James Rollins signing. He was super nice, and the staff was great. After reading all of his books and meeting him, that partly sent me on the course to becoming a thriller author. The store layout is open and easy to move through, so you never feel crowded. One of the superpowers of this location is how they can reconfigure the store for events. I’ve been to multiple signings here, and it’s a fun experience every time. It’s great having this type of bookstore in the Point Loma and Sports Arena area, with a solid selection and a knowledgeable staff.
This was a much bigger store than expected and the selection was great! I LOVE horror and their horror collection was extensive. We didn’t get much time in the store but you could spend hours there. Bonus points for the fact that their bathroom says rock bottom on it and when you get the key it’s a Rocktopus 😂
Great experience here! Everyone who was working was super helpful and sweet. This is a great bookstore to visit if you love locally owned stores! Very charming. They have a lot of merch other than just books. And they have a LOT of books! Signed and otherwise. Overall amazing bookstore!
