Had an amazing experience at this bike shop, specially with Damien (the owner). I got in town Thursday Oct 16th to participate in the Ironman Sacramento (Oct 19th) just to find out the basebar of my TT was broken during the flight. I contacted Damien, explained the issue and my time constraints. He was able to dissemble the entire bike, change the basebar and do all the cables (shifters and brakes) in one day. He was so helpful and understanding, and you can tell how detail-oriented he is with each bike. Damien su saved my race and my trip! Thanks again!! Cheers, Guillermo
Fooled me twice shame on me! About 4 years ago I took my Cervelo R5 in for a tune. They had it for a week then called and said they couldn't get to it and didn't want to tune it. They gave it back with my seat slammed and angle change. Anyone who knows about bikes knows this is a total rookie thing to do since people pay for professional bike fits to dial this in perfectly. It also implies they also likely clamped the highly expensive carbon frame instead of seatpost risking cracking the most expensive part of the bike. So I really should have never went back. But I needed some new tires so I figured I'd try to help out the local shop again. The guy was nice so no surprise we got chatty and I didn't see their awesome sign saying they don't refund money only give in store credit. So two days later when I decide the tires aren't for me and go to return them I learned that they don't give refunds. But I can have $200 of credit. So basically beware before you buy because once you give them your money you won't see it back. And then when you consider the tires were $80 more than it would have cost to just buy them in Amazon you really feel bad about your life decisions to shop without doing your homework first. So friendly advice. If you like overpaying for stuff and having no chance at a refund if you made a mistake, then shop greenhaven neighborhood bike shop. If you don't mind them keeping your bike and not doing work then giving it back in worse shape than you gave it to them by all means use this bike shop. Really before you engage in any monetary transaction with them, do your homework because buyer beware they don't refund you even a day after the fact. Don't get fooled like me! Just go to Mike's Bikes or a variety of other more reputable bike shops around town. Who don't make you pay for making a mistake.
I had a very good experience with Damian today in the shop. He's the new owner as of January 2025, and he's very helpful and knowledgeable. As a woman, I never know what kind of service I'll get in a bike shop, and Damian was excellent - courteous, respectful, and patient. Highly recommend. For those looking to improve their fitness / sports performance on the bike, he has a wealth of knowledge in that area as well.
February 2025 review. Owner is Damien who absolutely ripped me off. I never wanna slam a small business ever but the receipt just goes to show everything. I went in to get my bike tuned up and tires changed because it was due time. I rode my bike once a week, love my bike, generally no issues at all. The initial quote was $225 for tune up and new tires change (me bringing the tires.) When Damien assessed the bike (the owner), he said there were some things wrong with my brakes and he wanted to bleed them and fix the brake wiring. I had no issues with my brakes whatsoever but he seemed honest at the time, so I agreed. The new quote was for $420 for fixing brakes, tune up, and new tires. Meanwhile my bike is in the shop 1 week now. $420 was very expensive to me, but I just went with his opinion. Fast forward, this guy Damien calls me again and says he found issues with my wheel and needs to redo some of the hardware on the rims, he literally over the phone told me it might be $30 more. I say fine whatever. Damien calls me to tell me the bike is done, this is two weeks now. And I go to pick it up. When I pick it up the bike was $610!!!!! This was absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. I argue with him because he never ever told me the price would be in the $600 range! I would have never agreed to that. I have to argue with him a little and he only takes the total down to $570! This bike shop is completely unprofessional. At what point would I approve $200 worth of fixing on rims? For my total to go from $420 to $610. Damien is completely dishonest, and never told me the costs and added so many unapproved costs. Why would I pay you $40 to clean my bike, I never asked you to do that yet you charged me for that! I will never bring my bike again to this place. The owner is a crook, the receipt does not lie!
This guy knows what he’s doing and I certainly trust him to do a good job on my son‘s bike so that it can be ridden safely. He’s also good at conversation about cycling. That being said, I’ve been there twice and have both times come away feeling like I’ve been nickeled and dimed. The derailer needed to be adjusted which carried a $25 charge, and I was given a ticket for that amount, and agreed to pick the bike up a couple hours later. When I returned, I found that he had put two new tires on the bike, that I was considering, but wanted my son to see the tires first before we decided to purchase them. My son ended up liking the tires so we got them. But when I went to pay for everything, there were several additional charges, of $15 or $25 because the guy decided to do something extra that he didn’t tell me he planned to do (cleaning a part) or an installation fee of the tires that I did not first tell him to install. I just feel like the guy was putting the cart before the horse by charging me for little things that I did not authorize first.
