We have eaten at Nobu in Los Angeles, Vegas, and Tokyo and have always had amazing meals. Staying at the Nobu Hotel in Chicago we decided to try the restaurant and ordered the omakase dinner with sake pairing. The fish was incredibly fresh, but overall we were not impressed with the meal as an omakase experience. The cooked dishes were uninspired. The food felt indifferent. The sakes seemed very random to the dishes and did not feel special. And the service, though polite, was rushed and distracted. Overall, not what I have come to expect from Nobu and certainly not a true omakase experience.
My Husband and I were looking to book a 5 star hotel in Chicago- and we went with Nobu. And, it was the best decision ever. We stayed Christmas Eve- till Christmas morning. The atmosphere was relaxing, and calm staff. Which we appreciated as we went to go see the Nutcracker at Lyric Opera House before checking in the Nobu Hotel. The hotel room was so edgy/cool, but still remained minimalistic and classy. With dark marble, and sleek interior design. It was exactly what I was looking for. And, my husband also loved the design of the hotel. The room provides two cozy white-Nobu Robes, alcoholic drinks, and snacks. Of course more amenities- fridge, coffee maker, spacious closet, shoe bag, garment steamer, cool light setup near bed, and around the room. Look up Nobu amenities for more detail. The Bathroom was my favorite part of the room, THE SHOWER, is my dream shower. It was spacious, with a cute wooden seat. The mirror was huge so if you are into getting ready, hair+makeup, the Nobu hotel is the perfect choice. Everything in the room was SLEEK, and I don’t use the word ‘Perfect’ too often. But, it simply was. After checking in we booked a reservation at the Nobu Restaurant, and the food was nothing but delicious! It was nice to get out of my comfort zone, and eat Japanese cuisine. Now, I will keep returning back to Nobu, craving the food…Our wonderful waiter which we didn’t catch her name but her presence was notable. She asked us if it was our first time here-which YES it was! She made sure to throughly explain and suggest options for us. Which I really appreciated, it is nice to be around accommodating people:) Who show an interest in their work, and carry pride within themselves to help their customers. Throughout, our dining experience several waiters came over to greet us, and they came with humor and quick wit. The energy was certainly unmatched. Which, of course significantly heightens Nobu’s atmosphere. As far as food, I ordered the Black Cod Miso, and spicy tuna roll. My husband ordered tempura shrimp, to top it off we had the delicious white chocolate cheesecake. The restaurant was a vibe! There was no blasting music to where it was ever annoying, it was the perfect balance of music, chefs preparing meals in the background, and tables of couples, families coming together to enjoy their Christmas Eve dinner. I also would like to point out the decorations were on point for Christmas. Nobu really knows how to create a memorable experience for their clients. That being said, If you are looking for a relaxing but lively evening I recommend Nobu. Whole heartedly. Will definitely be returning.
Fresh and delicious. Service top notch. Brunch price per person good for the fresh sushi choices you get. Atmosphere was nice and romantic. Well done Nobu.
Expen$ive, but amazing! Each dish had my taste buds craving more. The staff worked as a team to make our experience great. Everyone was delightful. P.s. don't pass on the yuzu spicy drink! It wasn't too sweet and hit many notes - paired well.
I went to the brunch buffet at Nobu on Sunday. The host and all the staff are great. Place is nice decoration. Cocktail is good. Food station is not impressed at all for the price we paid 75 ++ per person. I think this price, Nobu could do better quality and options. Hot food it’s not hot as it’s pre cook and put under the heat lamp for a while until it’s not hot and fresh and still standing there until someone pick it up. Dessert is good enough but need to manage the flies. I think brunch somewhere else is better to pay this price.
