A cozy, quiet place to get lost in. Stacked selection of books in all genres. Porch Light is organized and easy to sift through, the staff are friendly, + the vibes are perfect. Bonus that there is a coffee shop across the street.
Majority of my book collection comes from this delightful little shop, it's such a comforting and welcoming place. I adore the selection, immaculate upkeep and warm staff. The penguin's classics nook is my little slice of heaven. It's so amazing to have a local store like this one in the community. It makes me happy to support a business like this. You can tell there is passion and care behind it. Thanks for everything.
Great mix of pre-owned and new. Also great spot to order in if it’s not on the shelf. Team is helpful and friendly.
This is a shining example of Bookstore 2.0. While some may argue that modern retail spaces should integrate virtual showcases, 3D projections, robot assistants, drone delivery, collaborations, limited merchandise, and various events, I believe it’s more fruitful to focus on what truly makes a bookstore special. For instance, the use of natural materials, such as crystals, wood, living plants, and sunlight, creates an inviting atmosphere that fosters a unique sense of flow and engagement. Additionally, thoughtful design choices—such as the shape and size of equipment, lighting, ventilation, and sound—provide an excellent reference for all bookstores in Canada (November 2025). In this compact space, the layout effectively supports non-intersecting visitor flows, ensuring that everyone can find their own cozy corner without feeling crowded. Clearly defined areas for different types of books—such as new arrivals, rare finds, and children’s sections—enhance the shopping experience and truly elevate the design. I also want to acknowledge the inclusion of comfortable seating areas, which invite visitors to relax and enjoy their surroundings. Of course, any store must curate an assortment that allows for a return on investment in new business processes. Customers typically don’t pay entrance fees, and they may not pay for hours spent consulting with staff, as they would in a therapeutic setting. Thus, the selection of books—especially in today’s competitive landscape against digital platforms—is an art form, and this store exemplifies that commitment. While I noticed some unique aspects, I think these should remain part of the store’s charm. It’s important to highlight the distinct experiences available here, as they are truly valuable. I also appreciated the effective synchronization of the inventory between the online platform and the brick-and-mortar store. In essence, this space is for those who are present and engaged with the moment. It embodies health, development, positivity, and love, rather than merely replicating an old-fashioned bookstore atmosphere. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the entire team of creators for their tireless efforts. P.S. If I were to suggest an area for improvement based on my personal experience, I would encourage you to confidently share your personal opinions about the books. I’m less interested in brief remarks from supposedly famous figures or short plot summaries. Instead, I would love to hear from the people who have crafted such a unique space. I want to understand why they recommend specific books, what those books can offer, where they might lead me, and how their themes might resonate at different life stages—whether I’m 20, 30, or 50 years old. In summary, I encourage you to share your personal reviews and recommendations on the books in your store. Thank you once again for your outstanding work!
Lovely bookstore with such clean layout! Even the used books are in nice condition with reasonable price. I enjoyed looking through the shelves, would love to come back for more books!
