School of Rock has been a very positive experience for my Daughter. She has learned how to perform in a band, and how songs are structured. She has also developed good relationships with other young people who share her passion of music and performance. All of the staff is great, and the music director is the right guy for the job! SOR OKC a safe place for my kid to be herself.
My kiddo always comes out of SOR smiling, and we’ve been going here for years. He’s learning and enjoying himself at the same time. Nick is doing an amazing job running things! They want your child to succeed and to have fun getting there. The performances teach them so much about stage presence, overcoming obstacles, and working together in a group. It’s a great place for growth on so many levels, thanks guys!
I’ve been an adult student at School of Rock for two months, and I’m thrilled with the progress I’ve made. I chose School of Rock because of its two-pronged approach to learning: private lessons and adult band. In just a short time, I’ve learned chords, scales, music theory, strumming patterns, and song structures. I’m already building up a song repertoire while gaining experience playing in a band. The staff and students have been incredibly supportive and patient. Nick, Nathan, Riley, Rob, Brenda, Rebecca, and Madeleine have all gone out of their way to welcome and encourage me. After each lesson, I leave feeling energized and motivated to keep learning and practicing. I look forward to spending many years honing my guitar skills at School of Rock. Rock on!
After 8 months of weekly lessons I can say that I still don’t know how to actually play the guitar. The price is very high. My teacher was a nice guy but there is no structure in the way they teach. It’s literally a free for all of learning little parts(not even whole songs) of different songs every week. At first I thought each song was a lesson but it’s not. There is very little learning of how to technically play the guitar and know what you are actually doing. They say they don’t want to make the lessons boring is why they do it that way. I’m an adult , paying over $100 a month to learn how to play. Not a kid looking for an extra after school activity. Very disappointed I spent all that time and money coming here to learn and I still need to find someone to actually teach me.
We have had such a great experience at the OKC location! Our girl has improved SO much in less than a year! We recently got to watch our daughters 2nd band performance that she sang in. So much fun to watch her improvement! Great school for music!
