Songbird Studios in San Francisco bietet Gesangsunterricht vor Ort oder online an, mit einem Team erfahrener Coaches, darunter Dara, Christina Stogsdill und Blake Cline. I've been a songbird student for over a year and have learned so much from every single coach I've had the chance to work with! There's so much I love about this place; the monthly Singers' Circles, the Performance Showcase, and the highly-personalized approach each coach takes with their students and the JOY that this community creates. For most of my time with Songbird, I've worked with Blake and Christina and I'm really blown away with how I have developed as a singer; I've gone from not really being able to carry a tune to feeling confident singing in front of strangers!! Blake and Christina have such a highly supportive and encouraging approach, and that's been everything for me as someone who started singing 'later in life'. ;) Blake really helped me get beyond my comfort zone and 'feel into' what I'm singing and Christina has really helped me hit higher notes with so much more ease. Highly recommend Songbird and their coaches!
I have been taking lessons with Songbird for two years and am delighted to recommend them warmly. I started out over Zoom during the pandemic and now go in person. Both modes are viable options though I prefer in person because singing ultimately is such a visceral thing. In my time with Songbird, I have worked with teachers Christina Stogsdill & Blake Cline. Both are highly skilled professionals who have dedicated their careers to mastering and teaching vocal techniques. I have been impressed with how Songbird cultivates a learning culture among its staff, which helps enable a quality learning experience for me as a student. Beyond the core lessons, Songbird also offers you a range of other services, including a monthly chance to perform. Singing is vulnerable, and Christina and Blake managed to make me feel very safe. Singing can also feel less tangible than, say, playing the piano, but what’s remarkable is how strong teachers can so accurately diagnose where I am stuck and then help me grow to the next level. After this experience, I have fully internalized that if I’m willing to do the work, incredible singing progress is possible. I could not be more grateful for the joy my newfound vocal freedom has brought me.
I began taking lessons at Songbird during the pandemic, and it was a wonderful way to stay connected to music during that strange and isolating time. I have had the pleasure of taking lessons with several excellent coaches, and found a great mentor for my vocal journey in Christina. I went from an average belt to a big, wide, chunky belt, and have learned techniques to help me reach new heights in my low range. Plus I feel cool just being in her presence.
I've been taking voice lessons at Songbird with Dara for a little over half a year. Having been a musician for decades, I always felt I was incapable of singing well. Dara has been a wonderful teacher who is helping me discover and cultivate vocal strengths I did not know I had, by aligning me with my true voice. This has been a revelation as I had always struggled to conform to pop song expectations which didn't exactly match. Dara is every bit as talented a teacher as she is a singer! She is full of insight and new perspectives, uplifting in her encouragement, and her teaching style balances both playfulness and dedication. I appreciate the flexibility of Songbird Studios providing in-person or on-line lessons. I am grateful for Songbird Studios, and for my wonderful voice teacher!
I am having a blast doing biweekly singing lessons at Songbird Studios. I sang in choirs all throughout high school but then didn't sing for twenty years!!! I have young kids and was looking for something to do for myself (by myself!) and I'm so very glad I chose singing lessons as that thing! I love working with Dara; it feels more like hanging out and she is so kind and laid back. But at the same time, I'm learning and challenging myself and doing something for me. I'm choosing whatever pop songs suit my fancy and just having a great time! I highly recommend it!
