We're regulars here not only because of the amazing coffee but also because of how knowledgeable, passionate and friendly Reece is - he'd turn even the most adamant Black Sheep-loving amateurs into speciality coffee snobs (like us) haha. We also really enjoyed the coffee tasting event; a great chance to try different beans including a lovely co-ferment at the end. Anyone into coffee and good vibes must visit Tasse!!
Such a lovely place to meet your friends in Glasgow! Their oat latte is really tasty and they have a great selection of cakes!! The staff were so friendly and welcoming, I haven’t tried their food menu yet, but the focaccia looked incredible definitely will be back soon!
I went to Tasse (which operates out of The Hug and Pint near the St. George's Cross Subway station) the other day and thoroughly enjoyed my experience on many fronts. Let's dive in. I normally go for one of three coffees when visiting a café: 1) a cortado 2) a flat white or if it's hot 3) an iced americano/long black. When I went to Tasse, it was one of those hot days in Glasgow (a rare, but welcome event) so I opted for an iced americano/long black. The thing with americano's (in my opinion) is that it tends to be hit or miss -- either it's very smooth (a "hit") or too over-boiled/acidic (a "miss"). When tasting the iced long black at Tasse -- it was a total win because it was so smooth and wasn't over-boiled/acidic. That's a plus because iced americano's/long black's are a staple for many people and you know that if the barista has mastered how to make the staples -- the café has a higher chance of being a crowd-pleaser. Despite Tasse being a new-business, Reece (the founder of Tasse) has a ton of experience being a part of the coffee industry so you can rest assured that you're in good hands. The thing with Tasse is -- I believe that through this café, Reece is also trying to build a sense of community -- with weekly chess events and more to encourage social interaction on top of everything else it has to offer. Because after all, cafés are about the quality of drinks (yes) but over time -- there are more people who care about the ambience/community-feel and what more the café has. I think Reece, through Tasse, has (and is) trying to tap into that market/niche. I love that -- so please, support independent cafe's such as Tasse. If you do, you'll get a lot in return : good vibes + speciality coffee (love that everything is French-themed) + scrumptious pastries (from Wheatberry Bakery & TheDorkyFrench (vegan)) + tasty food and a sense of community -- a pretty good deal if you ask me. I highly recommend you try Tasse because it's not only got good coffee/matcha/tea/other speciality beverages (the people around me who had flat white's and latte's also enjoyed their beverages) -- it also has an excellent, friendly vibe due to the founder/barista : Reece (shoutout to this friendly, enterprising and hardworking individual) and also the lovely people at The Hug and Pint.
Had a black Americano and an Iced latte with a cinnamon bun, on two separate occasions. I'm normally a straight black coffee person, but this made me remember that coffee can be a pleasant experience, not just wake-me-up fuel. A nice tranquil and well-kept vibe as you go in, wouldn't have known that the Hug & Pint done normal coffee service during the day until last Sunday. Would 1000% go again
I came for the launch party, and you could see the owners passion and knowledge for coffee from that alone. They were so friendly, they had time to greet and chat with me. Also, yeah, as you can expect, the coffee was smooth and delicious ( my photo has an empty cup cause I enjoyed it too much before realising I needed a photo)
