Food was over an hour late and they forgot our order multiple times. When our food did come, they served each of us individually so we all ate at separate times. The black coffee tasted sweet (did it have sugar because it was burnt/old?) but the OJ was okay. Bathroom code is 2580.
The shrimp tacos were delicious. The server was friendly and efficient except she forgot my beverage until after the food arrived. It was noisy with music and a TV going. It was difficult to carry on a conversation.
We were one of maybe 3 other couples in the entire restaurant, which should usually mean there isn’t a long wait for food. A cheese enchilada and a taco order took about 30 minutes to come out, and when it did, the tacos were missing the Surf and Turf part (shrimp) that I paid extra for. The waitress was unsure of where the cook was, and when I sent the tacos back to be done properly, it took about 10 minutes to receive barely cooked shrimp (tails were still attached) which were hardly seasoned simply THROWN on the top of the tacos. It literally looked like the chef smoked a joint, grabbed a handful of Costco frozen shrimp, let it sizzle for a couple minutes, add the tiniest amount of salt/pepper, and then chucked it on top of the tacos. My girlfriend’s enchiladas were also very sour with the sauce they added on, and the cheese inside them was hardly melted. The texture and taste was like a frozen Trader Joe’s meal. Both of us and our waitress were simply baffled by how ridiculous the food was. The icing on the cake - both of us then had awful stomach aches after eating. Mexican restaurants in DTSJ should be avoided - go to La Vic’s if you want good Mexican food or go to another city.
Overall The Fab was ok. The highlight of the meal was the ceviche appetizer which was delicious. The margarita flight tasted fine but came out room temperature which was disappointing. The sopes, nachos and street tacos were all fine, no complaints but nothing that stood out. We had one waitress that barely said a word but another who was very friendly and excited we were there. Also the happy hour isn't really a deal because all of the happy hour appetizers are way smaller than the regular appetizers. I won't rush back.
The drink was good, I ordered a Paloma. I think she said they were buy one/get one, but it was a lunch break, so maybe next time Ordered a personal mushroom and sausage. Sausage was gross. I'm pretty sure it was mini chicken apple sausage, and I think there was yellow cheese too, blegh. The crust, however *chefs kiss*. Someone ordered flautas and someone else a burger. None of us really finished our food, the overall impression was "meh". Woul definitely come back for the 2x1 drinks.
