We had a pretty good experience. Be prepared to wait a bit. This seems to be pretty popular amongst locals. We were seated after about 30 minutes on a Saturday morning. Service was great and food was pretty good. I enjoyed my omelette and the gravy was better than expected. I think it’s made with chicken as opposed to sausage. My wife loved her combination. For some reason plates were hot, but grits weren’t as hot in temperature as we would’ve liked. We’re definitely going back to try other menu items.
I will give them another shot in the future, but hit a few bumps on the first go. The menu is excellent, but the execution needs a lot of work. Thought it was cool that they sourced the sugar caddies from a local artist. Tofu scramble: 0/10 Definitely not a tofu scramble. They need to work on this dish with a vegan consultant. Over-marinated tofu, texture was all wrong, cubed pieces instead of scrambled crumble, brown, just clearly not thought through at all. Awful execution. Had to send it back. Showed the waitress what a tofu scramble is supposed to look like and her response was “see, now that looks appetizing.” Benny: 5/10 she said it was fine, but plain. Said the hollandaise seemed like it came from a can.
The Flying Biscuit Cafe is popular with the locals. There was a 30 minute waiting line Saturday morning. The food was just okay. We asked for soft scrambled eggs and they were over cooked. The chicken sausage was overcooked as well and the grits were a little chalky. The pancake was thin so it was not fluffy. We sat outside to eat but found it too hot. Nice atmosphere and the patrons seem to love their food so maybe it was just our meals that had issues. Take a look at my scrambled eggs and you see them dry and crumbly. The biscuit was the highlight and very good!
We visited on a Sunday early afternoon. There was a 30-40 minute wait which I expected but the problem was somehow we got missed on the list. If I hadn’t gone to ask after I realized it had been longer than the projected 30 minutes who knows when we would have been seated. However we had a great server ( hate I forgot his name) but we shared my dad had to catch a flight and he made sure he had us done in time. Our food was okay. Many of our entrees were not as described like the waffles that had scrambled eggs instead of the fried egg. I enjoyed the chicken sausage but as a whole my party gave the meals a 6.5/10 with a okay experience but not one you would feel you needed to experience again.
I’d been wanting to try this place for a while, and while visiting Huntsville over the weekend, I finally had the chance to stop in. Overall, the experience was decent, but not particularly memorable. I ordered the Drops of Jupiter—two pancakes with two chicken sausage patties—and a side of Moon-Dusted Potatoes, which were essentially standard breakfast potatoes. My husband had the stuffed French toast with chicken sausage and a coffee. The restaurant was clean, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the food presentation was appealing. Everything was served hot and fresh. However, the flavors were fairly average—nothing stood out, and the overall meal felt very mediocre. A solid option if you're nearby, but not something I’d go out of my way for.
