The Sculpture Gallery, im historischen Corn Exchange in Leeds gelegen, bietet einen lebendigen Raum für Kunstbegeisterte und angehende Bildhauer. Had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend getting to grips with the fundamentals of stone carving; different tools and their purposes, carving a rounded edge and a concave shape, and a day to spend working on my own design. David is a great teacher and a very interesting man. He explained everything clearly and offered helpful prompts and demonstrations throughout, which helped me build confidence as the weekend went on. It was great to have someone so proficient on hand for guidance. Would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in sculpting.
Great stone carving course - really friendly and incredibly knowledgeable instructor in such a cool setting !
After taking a leaflet from this studio, I undertook a stone sculpture course with Steve. It was an amazing two days of fun, stone working and artistic expression, all within a beautiful studio set in a historic Mancunian mill. Steve was really enthused with every demonstration of sculpturing stone into art and his techniques were easy to remember and follow after some practice. Highly recommend this course to undertake, well worth the money and skills to start off anyone’s stone working journey
Great gallery/shop with a good variety of sculptures on display (and available to buy). I wish I had more money and space (maybe a bigger house) because there was so much I would have liked to take away. Drew was helpful and talkative, and he happily gave context to some of the work in the gallery. Next time we're in Leeds we'll do everything we can to make a visit, and support the brilliant artists who run the gallery.
The sculpture gallery is a real asset to Leeds and the wider creative community. The works on display are quite beautiful and varied, and the price of the sculptures is very reasonable given the quality of the pieces. I’ve been fortunate enough to attend one of the stone carving weekend workshops at the Corn Exchange run by Steve and David and it was really enjoyable and very informative, I came away with my own carving which incorporated the basic techniques of form that we were taught over the weekend. David and Steve are welcoming and knowledgeable, great teachers as well as great sculptors!
