My husband and I went to The Best of the Secret Group Comedy in The Box room and had a great time! We loved this place. There were a variety of comedians and comedic styles. The atmosphere was great. Very small and personal venue. The chairs are not comfortable, but worth it for the smaller setting. The bathrooms were clean. Quick drinks. Paid parking right across the street. Friendly staff and positive vibes. I personally enjoyed it more than Houston Improv and will definitely return.
Good atmosphere and drinks. Saw a musical performance in the Showroom and had easily accessible bar and restrooms. Paid parking next to venue but the lot is well lit!
I enjoy this place. Always a variety of unique acts. The upstairs terrace is a nice social smoking area with large picnic tables. T.S.G. showcases some really bizarre and unique talents be it freak show to kink show, burlesque or comedy, and musicians & Dj's of course. A wide range of talented local and national performers. Very reasonably priced for a downtown venue.
Intimate venue for live music, and a cool 90's hip hop DJ in the other room. Tabs transfer between rooms, they give the card back. The area is hopping, near the Truck Yard and clubs.
The secret group is a comedy spot/music venue/bar in the midtown/downtown area. It’s nestled ima really interesting part of the city and really adds to the mystique and art style Houston should be famous for. The Bar and comedy venue is directly through the front doors, in the back closed off by a wall is the music venue, which is why I came to The Secret Group this night with my wife. We went to see an excellent OKC No Wave/Metal/outsider art four-piece project. The soundboard/mixing was excellent which made the band sound crisp and organic. The stage isn’t super high so the band feels more on your level, which I always enjoy more. The venue is standing room only, you’d want that at a show like this. No one wants to get kicked in the head, or knocked out of your chair by the wayward circle pit thrasher. There is a bar in both rooms which offer reasonably priced drinks:mixed, juice, white claws, and beer tap or otherwise foreign or domestic. As well as a smoking area on the roof that overlooks the city and the highway. All in all a great place to see a show or a band, I’d recommend it!
