The Sutton Place Wine Merchant offers a strong and wide international wine catalogue in a premium downtown Vancouver environment, which is great for serious wine buyers and collectors. However, the store falls short in consistent staff expertise and transparency around pricing/value, which can undermine the “good value” claim. The heavy focus on high-end import bottles means casual buyers or budget-conscious shoppers may find fewer accessible options.
I ordered a bottle of wine for my brother who was staying in the attached Sutton Place Hotel. I called and spoke to Chris who explained how I could order the wine through the store and have it delivered. Chris also provided excellent customer service and was incredibly knowledgeable about wine in general and the selections at the store. I visit Vancouver a few times a year, and will definitely pop in to frequent the store more often now that I know more about the store.
I was volunteering nearby this establishment and have nothing but good feelings and things to say about the store specifically. What really stood out is the Manager Chris as they really and truly look out for their staff and provide quality service from the top down and really shows. Much respect
We stopped in today to get some Okanagan Valley wines. The associate who helped me was knowledgeable and one can tell she has great passion for wine. She asked my preferred style, explained each winery and recommended wines from diverse range of wineries. I had an awesome experience. Highly recommend this place!
Such a great little store downtown! I love the variety of wine and good little beer & spirits selection, plus the staff are friendly and knowledgeable .
