Think it's the best thrift shop! The assortment, condition, and quality of the goods are first rate. I purchase books, cards, dolls, and whatever catches my eye!
This is honestly one of the nicest thrift stores I've ever been to. It is clean, well-organzied, and fairly priced for the treats you will undoubtedly find here!
A terrible shopping experience if you are 1. black or 2. love to browse/shop and are moving too slow. Today the manager Lynn felt I was buying too much stuff so she approached me to cash out my items in batch. One would think that as a thrift shop selling used items, funding a local hospital, would be glad that I was buying a lot, but NO! First, I find there are too many volunteers and they hover over one as one shops. It could just be me as I am black and they are giving me the "shoplifter" experience but they hover over me. That has happened in the past and I have asked if they could give me some "room" to enjoy browsing amd shopping. Today, as I was filling up my basket, the male store attendant came and asked if the full basket was mine. I said yes. He, not I, suggested that he take it up front to the counters. Since I have a bad shoulder I agreed and continued my browsing/shopping. Because I no longer had a basket I took up two more piles of clothes to add to the pile being held at the counter. My intent was to look at one other rack and then check out. As I was walking away from the counter a female volunteer approached me with a DEMAND that I pay for the items at the counter before continuing shopping. I didn't want to do that. Who does that? - insist that your CUSTOMER, BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT I AM, pays when you tell them to pay, or when it is convenient to you. I turned to her and told her "Please don't spoil my shopping experience". That is when she identified herself as the manager, not before. Now the spoiling of the shopping experience is a real concern at the Thrift Box. These are a bunch of retired women and a few men who think that they are doing God's work by volunteering and they rush you to cash out. They think they are being helpful but they are not. They are adding a rushed feeling to what should be a leisurely treasure hunting experience. I have tried to explain that to them in the past, but they change so often that there is a constant need to re-educate the latest overzealous volunteers. One is forced to say "not yet, I am still looking, thanks" to the constsnt, multiple enquires from multiple volunteers. It gets burdensome and feels rushed to the customer, at least for me. So today, Lynn decided to tell me how my shopping experience would go and I decided to ignore her suggestion. As a result Lynn decided to pull a Karen on me. There are 2 Karens white people like to pull on black people when the black person is not complying: 1. I will call the cops, or 2. I will ask you to leave (if you don't then I will call the cops is implied). It is the latter Karen Lynn pulled on me. Me who was just minding my own business browsing/shopping, enjoying my morning out, Lynn says if I don't do what she the manager says she would ask me to leave. For what, because I picked up so much clothes that you find inconveniencing you so instead of being glad and grateful that I am clear the racks for more space or that I am contributing to your hospital, you threaten to evict me!!!! How about you just leave me alone let me quietly shop and when I am satisfied I will come and pay and quietly leave. Ask any other volunteer if before Lynn spoke to me if I said a disrespectful word to any of them or and other customer today. The male volunteer approached me and took my basket to the front leaving me to happily burrowing through the junk clothes minding my own business. When i decided to cash out, it was Lynn who kept speaking to me even when I was directly asking Janet the person cashing me out questions about prices. Lynn demanded that I come where she wanted me to come and got mad when I said I prefer to stay and have Janet finish cash me out. She wouldn't give Janet a chance to answer my questions - the monitor facing me was not working so I asked Janet if she remembered to take 50% off.The board of directors of thrift Box should speak to Lynn and their other volunteers, advising them to 1. Not racially bait/profile/ threaten/provoke customers, and 2. Let customers enjoy theirshopping in peace - stop hovering.
The Thrift Box is a Willow Glen hidden gem! It’s a perfect place to shop for Christmas decorations in particular. I am always looking for new pieces to add to my Christmas village collection, and they start putting these pieces out in the early fall. The staff is friendly and super helpful answering questions and helping to look for items that you have on your list. It’s just a fun experience! They literally have everything from clothing, to children’s toys, books, records, and art. I would suggest making this part of your weekly routine!
Eine relativ begrenzte Auswahl aufgrund der Größe des Geschäfts, aber Preise, die von keinem anderen Second-Hand-Laden zu schlagen sind. Wir haben gerade eine große 4-Quart Pyrex-Schüssel für 6,00 $ bekommen. Wir haben antike Mason jars für 1,00 $ gefunden. Ich liebe diesen Laden! Sie akzeptieren nur Bargeld!
