We had an excellent time with DrayShawna! She is the pancake queen and she was definitely what made the experience so lovely! Food was delicious, service was fantastic - will be back!
Amazing place! I don’t eat sushi or seafood so I was worried I wouldn’t find much on the menu for me. But my husband and other couple wanted to come so I took a chance! I had the best most satisfying meal ever! We had the chicken and filet bao buns! They were so good, we ordered more! I was not a fan of the spicy edamame, they were kinda dry and needed something saucy on them. We also had the salad and it was good too! I don’t remember what it was called but it had peanuts and chicken skewers on top! We also had the bang bang chicken skewers… so delish. The sauce was great. My husband and his friend loved the sushi also! Oh and the cucumber gimlet is a must have!
We were here for the brunch with a party of 4 and tried a lot of the menu. Everything was good, including the famous pancakes. The espresso martini was refined and delicious. Our server was so friendly and advised us wisely on the menu.
I had dinner at TigerLily in Ferndale last night and was really looking forward to trying it, but overall, it was disappointing. The first thing that stood out was how limited the vegetarian sushi selection was; only two rolls, which I ordered. Both were fine, but honestly nothing special, about the same quality you’d get from a grocery store like Kroger. Service was another weak point. It took quite a while for our server to greet us and even longer to take our order. Our AAC rolls came out nearly ten minutes before my Slo Roll and my friend’s California roll, which felt odd. She didn’t pre-bus the table, so dishes piled up, and it took forever to close out the check. I got the impression she might have been new and that management had her covering too large of an area, which made things harder on her, but still, the service suffered because of it. People talk about the ambiance being beautiful, but I didn’t see it. It felt more IKEA than upscale, and between the loud music and the echo of everyone talking, it was hard to relax or have a conversation. Overall, TigerLily just didn’t deliver. Between the limited menu, basic food, slow service, and loud atmosphere, I won’t be back. For better sushi and a more enjoyable dining experience, I’d recommend Ronin in Royal Oak or Zao Jun in Bloomfield Hills instead.
I was really excited to try Tiger Lily, mainly because of their famous thick donuts. We made a reservation, but still had to wait to be seated, which was fine except even after sitting down, it took about an hour and a half for our food to come out. The wait was tough, but I will say the pancakes were worth trying. We ordered two different kinds, and they were both really, really good. I’d honestly come back just for those. On the other hand, our eggs Benedict was a huge letdown. The eggs came out undercooked, which completely threw off the dish. Thankfully, our server was extremely nice, polite, and attentive and she kept us updated on the kitchen delays and even took the Benedict off the bill, which I really appreciated. The restaurant itself is beautiful, the decor is modern and stylish, and even the bathroom is super cool with fun animations that make it stand out. The vibe and the food presentation definitely give “Instagram worthy” energy. That said, the wait times and inconsistency in the kitchen were disappointing, especially since we had a reservation. The pancakes alone can’t justify an hour and a half wait, but the place still has potential. I’ll give it another shot, because some of the other dishes I saw coming out looked amazing. It just wasn’t the experience I hoped for this time.
