Total Wine never disappoints. They always have exactly what I’m looking for… and somehow convince me to find a few things I wasn’t looking for too. Huge selection, well organized, and the staff actually knows their stuff without being pushy. Whether it’s wine, spirits, or a last minute “oh this looks fun” bottle, this is my go to spot every time.
I had a very disappointing experience at this location due to extremely poor customer service and racism. A group of six of us (Indian and African American) were patiently waiting at a tasting table for assistance while one associate, Mike, spent several minutes helping a single customer (Caucasian male) who was standing nearby. During this time, Mike was chatting, and looking at his phone while discussing an item on Google with that customer. Not once did he acknowledge our group, despite clearly seeing us waiting at the same table. After several minutes, I politely said, “Excuse me, can someone help us?” Mike looked directly at me, continued holding his phone, and very rudely replied, “I’m helping someone,” before immediately turning back to his phone and continuing his conversation. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of our wait, and no indication that he would assist us afterward. We were interested in purchasing an item and needed help with tasting before making a decision, yet we were completely ignored. We continued waiting for several more minutes until another associate finally came by and kindly helped us with our tasting and selection. Interestingly, the moment this associate arrived, Mike abruptly ended his conversation and walked to another table. After making eye contact with him, he then walked away entirely. At no point did he come back to help us or acknowledge the situation. Shortly after, I noticed Mike, the assistant manager, at a nearby table diagonal from us and asked if a manager was available so we could express our concerns about the long wait and rude interaction. I explained that his associate could have simply said, “I’m sorry for your wait, I’ll be with you as soon as possible.” Unfortunately, the assistant manager was extremely dismissive and passive, responding only with, “Well, I’m sorry you feel that way,” rather than apologizing for the experience itself or addressing the behavior. As I walked away and mentioned that I would be reporting the poor customer service, the assistant manager then caught my attention by saying down the aisle, “My name is Mike, that would be important for you to know.” This interaction completely solidified my decision not to support this location. I immediately put the bottle I intended to purchase back and left. I’ve visited other Total Wine locations in the area many times, including during busy holiday seasons, and have never experienced anything like this. Customer service should be a top priority, especially in a retail environment where assistance is essential. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. I would recommend shopping elsewhere or avoiding this location during busy times.
Store is really good have very good collection and also lot of sample booths. But the billing is crowded even though they have 6 or7 counters.
Update: Excellent customer service from Mr. Ruby and his friend stocking the shelves also was full of smiles! Best drink & snack options are here and the prices are lower than anywhere else so far! Im sad that there is no military veteran, law enforcement or fire fighter discounts here, such a shame and a waste to not honor our patriots! Cashier, she was very helpful at getting me to download the app to show me the benefits and she was very nice too! Ill be back again soon for more pics of this underrated location!
