We checked out a few different martial arts schools for our kids because I felt it would be a huge benefit for them, not only for self-defense but also to help build their confidence and discipline. We decided on Union Martial Arts Academy after meeting Mark and signing up for a trial class. Watching him work with the kids and seeing how well they responded to him made it an easy decision. What stood out most to me was the sense of comfort we felt knowing that Mark would not only teach martial arts skills but also be a mentor in our kids’ lives. He goes beyond the role of teacher or instructor and shows genuine care as a person who wants to pass on these values to the next generation. As parents, this aligns with what we try to instill in our kids, and having that extra support makes a big difference. We just wanted to share this review so that other families who are considering martial arts for their kids might see the same value we did. If you’re looking for a place where your children can learn, grow, and be supported, Union Martial Arts Academy is a wonderful choice.
We have both kids signed up. They are similar age so they can learn together. They are engaged and super stoked to be learning the Kuntao Martial Arts. Maestro Mark and his team are fantastic. I highly recommend. Update: after two years, we couldn’t be happier. The kids confidence has soared and they know how to effectively fail forward. Stripes and belts are earned not given for participation. We appreciate how the kids are held responsible for their progress matched with patience/guidance from Maestro Mark. Highly recommend!!
My daughter has been enrolled in the youth Karate and Kali for almost two years now and her self confidents has improved so much, Maestro Mark is an amazing instructor, highly recommended!
After an alarming health check last year, I decided to find a place to explore learning martial arts as a medium to work towards becoming healthier. What I ended up finding is a community of people of all ages working towards learning and growing together. Maestro Mark has been a fantastic teacher. Taking the trials and tribulations of his own experiences and sharing that with his students. This academy provides a safe space to learn martial arts without having to worry that someone is just there to hurt you. You receive a good balance of learning kuntao fundamentals, opportunities for pad / bag work, and engaging in sparring. The facility is clean with plenty of space. Lots of parking in the complex and even has underground parking for free. If you’ve ever been on the fence with trying out martial arts, I challenge you to give Union Martial Arts a try. You won’t regret it!
Even though my daughter has not sign up (yet), we attended the trial class and I was very impressed with the facility and with Maestro Mark! He did fantastic in leading the class of energetic toddlers, showing discipline and martial techniques. If you are looking for a great engaging and developing sport, I definitely encourage you to sign up! I am looking forward to bringing my daughters for another try in the future when they are a bit older! Thank you for having us!
